On a municipal level; we can't. We are currently $1.1M in the hole because of federal tariffs and lack of FEMA reimbursement for the February big snow. We can refer to agencies and offer help locally but it'll never be enough. The federal govt is screwing all of us.

It's interesting how political signs don't predict a winning campaign. We have had campaigns where they put out a zillion signs and the person lost. And we've had campaigns where somebody put out literally one sign and they won. It's not really a great predictor of a successful campaign.

How exactly? I recruited for our local party. People aren't really interested in running for local office. It's a lot of work and putting yourself out there.

While canvassing at doors today, we heard about how a couple of conservatives think they could find all the waste and fraud in local government in a couple of hours. The same people who can't even sit through one budget meeting for a couple of hours or send in one question.

I thought people might be interested to see how the storm did affect municipalities from the other side. I also don't think Mr Smiley did a great job overall but running for office is different than actually sitting in the seat. Have a great day.

That's what I'm trying to say - not well apparently. If Mr Morales is to be successful - he needs to study where Mr Smiley went wrong.

I think Mr. Morales also needs to figure out what happened. With climate change and the increasing issues with storms, this is going to happen again. We're all facing the same issues, including flooding, wastewater management, heat and snow, etc. suburban, urban and rural.

We were still struggling here in these suburban areas with where to put all the snow from the first storm when the second storm hit. I would imagine that in a more condensed area it would be worse. It wasn't until after the second storm that the state said you could dump the snow in the water.

I did see that. I'm just saying that it wasn't easy and we all got blamed for the lack clearing up. I understand that Mr. Smiley wasn't exactly a great communicator and he was poor at his responses. But Mr Morales needs to know now what went wrong for Mr Smiley

We were not all cleared out within a week. It took us about two full weeks and then some to clear the side streets

Our equipment was skating over the top of the snow. And we had plow drivers who were working 24 - 48 hours at a time who could not even get home. While Smiley's responses could have been better, I think Mr. Morales should be talking to DPW people about where and what happened with those storms.

With all due respect, the snowstorm was hard for most RI municipalities. We had people asking about cleared streets 2 or 3 days after. Two giant back-to-back storms after years of getting 6 or 7" at the most, was a huge surprise for all of us. Our equipment was not up to that type of snow.
