Ok got it thank you so much for the explanation!! That makes sense

Are beams bouncy at all (in the same way how bars have some flexibility, but they're not springy)? Or does this depend on the beam? And I'm assuming people have different preferences for the springboard based on their power and how much resistance they want from the springs?

200 0

Ok question for gymnastics sky from a fan who has never even done a cartwheel: Does the beam always feel the same? I know that not all floors bounce the same, uneven bars have variations, but I'm curious about beam. Bonus Q: why are there 2 springboards sometimes for vault? What's the difference?

You should watch the documentary about LSU gymnastics that came out recently on espn. I think it's been reposted on YouTube but it's about this exact same thing and is disgusting and inspiring at the same time.

Bluesky is great except it makes me feel incredibly STUPID and like I chose the wrong career after seeing of all the brilliant researchers on here.

Question for Bluesky people: I left most social media because I was tired of AI slop (among other things) and wanted to protect my cognitive health. Didn't realize until the other day, but there seems to be no misinformation-focused AI slop here? Am I imagining this or is it a problem here too?

They even sent translators to help us file paperwork, people checked in on us periodically, parents were taken to English classes, they made sure I went to school, it was really comprehensive. We're not even Lutheran which surprises some people. It was just something they did as an organization.

100% this! We were sponsored by the Lutheran Social Services group when we came in the 90s. Set us up with an apartment, furniture, kitchen things, people donated everything needed to start a new life after leaving our home. Forever grateful for their support. Very Christlike.

I treated figure skating a lot like how I treated Naruto which means I knew I would LOVE it but I wasn't ready for a new hyper fixation on tv so I put off watching until I was. Anyways I'm ready & LOCKED IN. After ncaa gymnastics season ends I have years of competitions, lore & drama to catch up on

Sooo many DCC nods in routines this year, but hers is the best by a mile!

WHEN are we going to give Hannah Horton her 10 on floor, let's just be so for real about this for a moment.

000 0

You CANNOT convince me that the Bible citation school's team doing talent-show dancing in their routines is on par with Cecile Landi's girls at UGA with their E+ tumbling passes & the Hollywood choreographed UCLA team. That's like trying to tell me Taylor Swift dances on the same level as Katseye.

NCAA Gymnastics judges should be able to deduct 0.25 from a floor score if it's boring as fuck. I'm tired of watching OU halfheartedly marking their dance moves, skimping on difficulty in their passes, and doing that weird gyrating thing but somehow still scoring high.

Wow thanks for breaking it down for me like that this is exactly what I was asking for I'm the only college grad in my family so I always have to figure out what the next steps are before I can even take them so now I have a starting point.

I am not sure 🤔 I think I would prefer academia & research probably. I'm currently practicing clinically in a related field and can already foresee myself getting burned out in 5-10 years.

Is it a better plan then to make a decision on which one first, and then start hunting down opportunities? Not sure where to look when I'm ready though

000 0

I did so poorly in HS/undergrad before my adhd diagnosis, I genuinely never thought I would finish grad school much less keep a 4.0 Now that I'm loving learning again and doing well, I am realizing I have no idea what the steps are beyond this.

#academicsky I need you guys really quick. Decided recently that I'd like to pursue a PsyD or PhD after my masters program. That means I should probably get some more research experience under my belt to get into the programs I want. Where do I even begin with finding opportunities like this? 1/2
