Microsoft and other large data center companies are stacking up 10s of billions of server chips in storage, not in use. For me, this links up with the warning that China may attempt to take Taiwan in the near future. CEOs were warned - it leaked. Maybe they are stockpiling replacements, not growth

In my Sci Fi novel, set 300 years in the future, when the earth is dry, we only generate atmospheric water. Earth colonies are positive refuges away from the harsh outside world. And they include wave pools and kayaking runs. It's like Dune, but without war, and based on today's technology.

In my Sci Fi novel, I assumed the warming, volcanism, beetles and all that fully wipe plant life of any significance from North America. Like Sahara style. Cycles. The Domenium Colony of Bend Oregon was build using a lot of wood pulp and beams, a desperate attempt to utilize all the timber.

Technology can be good or evil. In school, imagine if all kids got their lessons on device via digital textbooks. They have to show their work in their own handwriting. The device has no broad internet access or AI. But it may have a teaching assist. Separate keyboard. Earbuds/pen on Device.

Xiongan China, a fully self sustaining grreen city - is empty - for now. Everyone is saying that it was just a jobs program. I'm staring to see it differently. They are building self sustaining colonies, which have no reliance on foreign oil even at the delivery and transport level.
