Gonna check out this guide. Painting miniatures is fun. Photographing them is not. I have quite a few miniatures to photograph, but gave up due to frustration. I have spent a lot more than 2 minutes trying to photograph them. My phone and my camera will focus on a spot but the rest will be blurry.

It's that time of year where I read more #books and create #art. I am enjoying painting inspiration in my sketchbook by working through "Watercolor in Nature" by Rosalie Haizlett.📚 #booksky
The bookcover of an illustration guide titled "Watercolor in Nature" by nature illustrator Rosalie Haizlett. The cover is green and has illustrations around the title. The illustrations include an Imperial Moth, Fly Agaric mushrooms, a frog, and a land snail. The extra text reads: "Paint Woodland Wildlife and Botanicals with 20 Beginner-Friendly Projects".

No, but in a strange way, yes. Two years ago I left most social media platforms, pushed MAGA types out of my life, cancelled the use of many products and services that enrich self-serving billionaires, and I am so much happier to have reduced their impact on my life.

🌱 In 2020, after my mom passed, the first #garden project that I built was this waterfall box for a small memory pond. Two+ years ago, I was required to remove it to make space for a new septic system. I recently realized it would fit in my herb bed, so I reinstalled it. #Zone8b #bloomscrolling
A small round pond nestled beneath a tree in front of a wooden fence. There is a cedar planter box that holds white mums and a waterfall spillway. The pond water is recirculating through the planter box. A female head-shaped planter sits on top of the planter box. It was a gift given to me from my daughter, on the first Mother's Day after my mother passed. The head planter is planted with succulents. A large green lemon balm plant is growing in front of the pond.

This was fun, and not the least bit surprising. Somehow my Washingtonian son talks like a midwesterner. This quiz is based on a dialect study from Harvard. How do you talk? mydialect.us
A map of the United States that shows colors in the shades of red, cream and shades of blue. Red is strongest in the Pacific Northwest. Blue is strongest along the East Coast.

The text on the map reads:
Your dialect map
Redder areas talk more like you; bluer areas least.
You talk most like someone from Washington - about 59% of your answers match a typical resident.

The title above the map reads: Mydialect - Standard
There is a key that has the words "Least like you" next to the color blue and "Most like you" next to the color red.

🌱 I could probably post photos from our visit to The Buchart Gardens for months, but I should get back to posting photos from mine. Anyhoo - look at these walls in what I believe they call the Italian #garden. Simply gorgeous. I wish I could keep my baskets looking that beautiful. #bloomscrolling
A greyish-green building with white lattice work and a large lattice arch in front. The lattice is made in a square style. There are beautiful window boxes above that hold yellow and burgundy colored flowers. Flower baskets hang below the window boxes and they are filled with red, orange and yellow flowers. The plants in beds on the ground are purple, with a scattering of red, white and yellow flowers. The photo was taken on the evening of August 22, 2026.
