When disorder stops scattering waves 🌊 New PNAS study from Institut Langevin shows hidden correlations in disordered materials suppress wave scattering, without changing scatterers or density. A breakthrough for wave control!💡 #WavePhysics #Science www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...

Structural colour images printed with a unique nanoparticle ink can be both highly transparent to transmitted light and at the same time reflect light from above in vivid colours – two properties that are typically considered mutually exclusive. 🧪⚛️ physicsworld.com/a/researcher...

Researchers print structural colour with an inkjet printer – Physics World
A nanoparticle ink that can print structural colour onto flat or 3D surfaces could be used to create anti-counterfeit images, smart windows and displays, and vibrant artworks

I'm surprised (but am I?) about how little discussion there seems to be in the weekend papers that a deranged US president can now openly threaten genocide. That this seems to have been framed as "oh, it's just Trump - next story!" is deeply disturbing and shows a lack of moral seriousness.

Questions de goûts et de couleurs : le chocolat
Chacun sait que le chocolat se décline principalement en trois catégories : noir, au lait, et blanc, dont les couleurs sont en fait respectivement marron foncé, marron clair et ivoire (Fig. 1)…
