Husband. Father. Son. Brother. Teacher. Student. Trying to leave the world a better place than the one I came into. Oh yeah, video games are awesome.

I hope Nintendo never announces a Switch successor. It’s much funnier to be stuck in an endless cycle of people claiming to know what’s going to happen.

A teaser ad from late 1987 in Japan for Guardic Gaiden, an action adventure by Compile for the Nintendo Famicom Teasing a release date of January 29th the next year, the fate of Earth rests in the hands of a "powerful female warrior". Outside Japan, it would be known as The Guardian Legend.

This incredible illustration showing a Giger-esque bio-mechanical figure was by sci-fi artist, Naoyuki Kato, which was also used for the box packaging in Japan.

Published by Irem in Japan, the ad tells the story of a gigantic alien object on a collision course with Earth, populated with multiplying lifeforms, and it is up to this transforming warrior to stop it before it arrives by detonating ten devices within it!

3 Famicom classics. Kirby, Gradius and Wagan Land. Also Smash Bros. on the 3 DS and 2 games that play a lot like Smash but with anime characters, JUMP Super Stars and JUMP Ultimate Stars. If you like wacky fighting games and/or 90s/2000s anime, give these a try. Site: japanretrodirect.ocnk.com

The problem with the game industry is there's too much Crytek and not enough Lafftek

If you're going to reference Akira, I want it to be so obscure that it takes 35 years for people to catch it.

I updated the Starter Pack for people into Japanese Retro games again. I missed a few names the first time. And again, if you know anyone who you think should be added (including yourself), just let me know. This is a great way for us to find our people. go.bsky.app/FE8Qdwj

Finding all your old Twitter follows here is very fun, like it's Final Fantasy 6 and you have to go around getting your friends back together because the old world got destroyed by a sociopath with bad jokes
