LLM-assisted search with citations is incredibly useful and also the answer to the problem of hallucinations in the LLM-as-encyclopedia use case. (Keyword search engines did not avail me here)
Screenshot from perplexity.ai:

Query: What speech transcription app does Armin Ronacher use? It's visible on macOS in his videos. A little box with an audio waveform appears at the top center of his screen at (presumably) some keyboard command, and then the transcribed speech appears as text wherever his cursor is (pasted in there probably I guess?)

Answer: The app visible in Armin Ronacher’s macOS videos is VoiceInk, a local speech‑to‑text app for macOS that uses Whisper-style transcription and pastes the result wherever the cursor is.

A commenter familiar with his setup explicitly states that Armin Ronacher “employs https://tryvoiceink.com/ on macOS” in reference to those workflow videos, which matches the small waveform box and type-where-your-cursor-is behavior you describe.

See this prompt from one of my chats. Now imagine this same functionality but with a potentially very large text. "which sections discuss x?" or "what language is used to describe y?" or "do you find any instances of z?". There are systems that let you do this and serve up the sources directly.
Q:
Political dysfunction / corruption, but as a result of a slow process over time? Like, "sclerotic"

A:
Yes—sclerotic is excellent for describing systems that have become rigid, inefficient, or dysfunctional through gradual ossification. Here are other strong candidates, depending on tone:

Single-Word Options:
Calcified – hardened over time, resistant to change

Encrusted – overlaid or weighed down by accumulated layers (often of tradition or bureaucracy)

I am told that the German authorities have been forced to take down this plaque in the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church where a random British guy forgave them for WWII.
Interpretive sign at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial church in Berlin quoting a letter from British man dated November 7, 2007:

”Because of this church and the Cantata service on June 9 I have been able to forgive the German people and German pilot for the death of my father George North Watson RAMC on September 13, 1943 on the ship Newfoundland off Salerno. I believe that God does too. I feel a lot better now.”
