I started volunteering at the shelter. I help clean the men’s dorms every morning. It’s standard janitorial stuff: sweep & mop floors, take out trash, clean sinks & toilets, restock soap & toilet paper, etc. Last night the towel guy was missing, so I stepped in to help with that. #homelesslife

It was my #Twitch affiliate anniversary a couple days ago; I completely forgot about it. Hard to believe it's been a year already. I'll be streaming tomorrow with more updates for my #MMORPG! The demo is still coming along; hoping to have a recording or at least more screenshots to share!

I’ve been enjoying going on morning walks again in the past few days. It’s hard for me to stay in the shelter between breakfast and when I leave for the library: I get overstimulated quickly from the crowd, and there’s a persistent housefly problem. I hate having insects crawl on me. #homelesslife

Very tired today. I never slept in the overflow section all of last year, but last night there were no beds available for me. I actually enjoyed it in some ways. The staff was a little more observant of noises.

There was a fight involving a weapon at the smoking section last night. In response, the man in charge of the shelter shut that area down permanently, and also the parking lot adjacent to it. It’s where I parked my car all last year. #homelesslife

The shelter is letting us rest in the dorms today since the main hall is serving meals. It’s mostly empty. I’m loving the peace and quiet. It was foggy and serene outside for my morning walk. It’s a nice reprieve. I’ve been overstimulated for what feels like an eternity.

Mario Power Tennis: This game consumed my life for a couple years; had a roommate in college who I’d play against for hours on end, multiple times a week. Other friends would stop by and we’d 2v2. If you disable special moves the game is SUPER well-balanced.

It was hard to move out of the space. It took the longest to disassemble my car’s contents and rearrange them to fit my computer, monitor, etc. If they won’t let me come back I really need to rent storage space; I want to avoid further damage to my PC from sitting in the car. #homelesslife

I re-evaluated how and where I ack/nack messages and implemented some self-healing for StreamerBot's connection to the RabbitMQ server. This was the last of the ack-based errors.

I was mishandling "acks" which caused this infinite looping yesterday. I tried banning my bot temporarily to avoid hitting rate limits for the site. I unbanned it a little early: StreamerBot had hundreds of messages in its queue. I've been meaning to write a rate-limiter for the bot... soon!

I had a wonderful weekend. I was able to stay at the coworking space today and yesterday. It was a hell of an upgrade to the curb (pictured) and the crate I posted in the past. I did my laundry on Friday. Starting to feel human again.

I’m spending too much money on food. I only get $10 a day. This is supplemented with breakfast at the shelter (and lunch on weekends). The weekends have been harder because of the heat outside and lack of running water at the shelter. (1/3) #homelesslife

Very hot day today. I stayed outside for most of it. In shade fortunately. I went to the grocery store to get a sandwich for dinner and get a drink or two. Saw a bulk deal and wound up buying more. I passed them out at the shelter. We still don’t have running water during the day. Might do same tmrw

I focused on finishing some code today so stream was super late and short, but I got MongoDB; now #StreamerBot Client creates a new Stream record when I hit the 'Start Streaming' button on OBS, and finalizes that record with an end time when I hit 'Stop Streaming'. See you tomorrow!

The automatic scene-switcher worked well for today's stream! It's not going to scale well but I have a basic system for scrolling through scenes. Now I can return to perfecting the checkin system. I'll see what I can get done before I have to get back to the shelter for tonight. #StreamerBot #Twitch

Reklaw's scene switching code for StreamerBot/OBS, written in C#. There's a class declaration for SceneChangeRequest. The main Execute() function determines the destination scene based on the current one. Next it creates and serializes a SceneChangeRequest object. Finally it sends a request to OBS.

I should be implementing new features for my game, but I've become preoccupied with sprucing up existing code first. I just learned about destructuring statements in JavaScript so I've been refactoring server functions that unwrap WebSocket messages from the client. The new code looks so much nicer!

I need to be trying to make money immediately, I know that, but I started a new programming project anyway. I still can't get over the trauma from my last job. I'll do anything to run from it. It's just frustrating that I don't have a decent computer anymore. This tablet is ancient. I need a home.
