▶︎ Introduction Yet again, another Tokyo Game Show season has come and gone. I have so much fun everytime, but it's always so super sad to see it end. I'm both physically and mentally warn out, so I spent the majority of the day yesterday SLEEPING and I ended up being rather unproductive today as well. I was almost thinking about going to the final day of TGS today, and I even set my alarm to get up in the morning, but...

Since tomorrow marks the first day of Tokyo Game Show, Clear River Games has finally let the release date information drop for their rerelease of Terranigma! You can pick it up on January 14, 2027! ▶︎ Release Date Trailer ▶︎ Gaia Edition Physical Release ▶︎ Pre-order Now! Shortly after Episode 22 aired on TOKYO MX for the first time, the official account shared this amazing shot of the TRUE HAOHTEI armor! Below, you can find my fan English translation of the Japanese version. As you can see, they've already translated a portion of this image, but I don't exactly agree with translating things so directly that you get "Supreme Emperor" from the name "Haohtei".

「おかえり、アーク！」"Welcome home, Ark!" At long last, we'll finally be getting Terranigma re-released on modern systems in 2027! Ever since 2021, character designer Kamui Fujiwara, composers Miyoko Kobayashi, Masanori Hikichi, as well as many passionate fans here in Japan have pushed for at LEAST a simple port of the game on modern systems so that folks today have access to the game, which has been stuck on the Super Famicom and various PAL regions for nearly 30 years.

Originally posted on September 14, 2023 Fans of the 1995 Quintet game "Terranigma" met together for a fun night out with members of the staff. After a long, hot day at Japan’s largest doujin events, known as the Comic Market or more fondly “Comiket,” fans gathered to have a fun night out with several members of the staff that brought their amazing talent to the project. This is a sort of recap of the event to help connect and share related news like this with international fans. Read the article here.

As a member of the unofficial fan movement "Resurrection of the Hero", I tried to get word out about more recent events and news about Terranigma. Especially since the 26th Anniversary of the game's original release in 1995, the fan movement really kicked off with several members of the original development team pushing hard for the game to at least be released on modern systems.

For any Star Wars fans or fans of the new animation series "The Ninth Jedi", check this out! We're going to be putting on a WORLD PREMIERE CONCERT featuring some of the most classic themes from the original films and more, including the first time ever performance of themes from "The Ninth Jedi"! So, if you're a Star Wars fan and will be in Japan next week, definitely come check it out!

This is the first special voice drama in the "High School" setting. I expect there to be more! Just to be clear, this video/translation is purely an unofficial fan endeavor. It helps me to keep my editing skills fresh while learning new techniques and styles. As always, please let me know if you notice any goofs. I've gone over this over 30 times and almost find something new to fix every time...

"This is where we answer all your questions and requests!" I think sometime during Cour 1, the official Yoroi-Shinden Samurai Troopers account started a suggestion box in which fans could ask questions or share their personal comments and requests! From those questions, we're finally getting to see some answers! Of course, these first few are kinda... lack-luster and not all that interesting, but I think they're just trying to start off on a safe level before getting into any of the more tricky subjects...?

The other day, the official site released the first chapter of a new drama series that puts the characters into a typical high school setting (this is done almost too much... but it's still fun, I suppose). In addition to the actual voice drama, we've got new character profiles for everybody, so here's a brief look at my translation. ▲ I've updated both of these images, fixing some silly goofs and nuance.

With the most recent episode, Episode 15: In Concert, we've at last received the character profiles for the "first name" bunch of the Ten Braves! I knew that Seikai Nyudo & Isa Nyudo were brothers, but I didn't realize that they were actually twins! This is really interesting! ▶︎ Related Posts Yoroi-Shinden Samurai Troopers - Official Site (Japanese) Yoroi-Shinden Samurai Troopers - Official Twitter (Japanese)

We've got a bunch of updates this week after Episode 14 has aired, so let's take a look at each one individually! During the episode, it was shown that the original soundtrack (BGM) will be released on Wednesday, November 25! The official announcement can be found here. It will be 3 discs full of the background music that was specifically composed for the series, and will include the first-ever CD release of the song "Okiraku Jodo e" (To Carefree Pure Land), the original song sung by the Rock Hara Tandai idol group from the Youja-kai.

Since today is Tanabata, a day where many people make a wish, the voice actors thought about what they wished to do with their respective characters. The official YSST Twitter account just released a character profile for Ryusei along with the main cast again. From what I can tell, the details are all the same, but I think they just made some cosmetic updates to the images themselves. I don't really have the time to make all those small edits, so I'll just keep it as it is.

I went to the Cyber Connect2 30th Anniversary Exhibition and later Fan Event yesterday (Saturday, June 28) with several other FC members, so it was really nice to catch up and chat with everybody in person. I don't have much to talk about, so I'll leave this as mostly an image gallery. I might have more time to write a little bit more about the events tomorrow. [ Read the full article here ]

The official YSST Twitter just shared some nice profile sheets for our lead cast, so I've gone ahead and translated them. Just one note I'd like to make: I live in Japan and cannot access CR to see what they translated various terms, so for things like their special attacks, I've kept them in romaji without translating them yet. I'll be adding everything into my Encyclopedia later, but for now, I'm just gonna stop here.

▶︎ Introduction Monday, June 1 was the final special screening, showcasing Episodes 9-12 of the first cour for the new Yoroi-Shinden: Samurai Troopers anime series. Back on July 18, 2019, a beloved animation studio, Kyoto Animation, befell a malicious arson attack, killing 36 innocent animators and injuring 34 others. I'm not going to discuss the details here, but as a long-time animation and production artwork collector of around 30 years, I feel it's important to highlight at least some aspect of this tragedy since many people online like to post memes and all sorts of other horrific material on social media whenever there's a real threat made to innocent people just trying to make a living in the creative realm.

The end of February marked the 9th anniversary of NieR:Automata, and to commemorate the occasion, Square Enix hosted a special livestream with an in-person audience. Due to my work schedule, I haven't been able to stay up-to-date with various news and announcements, so I don't even recall the lottery drawing to attend the event. I only remembered about it when a friend of mine messaged me and asked if I wanted to attend.

Back on the weekend of December 14-15, 2025, armor designer for both Yoroiden & Yoroi-Shinden Samurai Troopers Hideo Okamoto held a special art exhibition in conjunction with MUSIC TOUCH, displaying his new illustrations for their collaboration. It took me a while to edit all the photos and by the time I completed that, I entirely forgot to write about it... so this is a bit old by now.

There have been several new publications that feature the new Yoroi-Shinden Samurai Troopers series. With the premiere of the first episode of the new "Yoroi-Shinden: Samurai Troopers" anime, we've been introduced to a recurring character from the original series-- Nasti Yagyu! Nasuti has somehow found her way into the Commander's chair of the DST and pretty much runs the whole project as well as dealing with governmental matters. She often converses directly with the Prime Minister of Japan regarding the overall administration of the DST against the encroaching Youja. ▶︎ Related Posts Official Twitter (JP)
