My gaming friends get me. Even adjusting for perspective, this brownie is approximately the size of my face. And, yes, it was dinner with a bit of Kids on Brooms last night.
A selfie of Kat wearing a denim jacket and oversized scarf. Even adjusting for perspective, the brownie she’s holding is approximately the size of her face.

I finished the socks! They aren’t perfect—my final bind off was too tight (still) so the cuffs can’t actually fit all the way over my calves—but all the better for their handmade imperfections. Both literal and metaphorical, I know I can complete the second sock when I put my mind to it.
A pair of handmade socks being worn. They are light grey with earthtone horizontal stripes along their length and brown toes; the texture is slightly ribbed in a diagonal spiral pattern.

One of the many projects I’m working on this month Is completing my 2025 resolution: finish the second sock. I’m happy to have cast on and worked the toe today (on the second try 😅).
A pair of hand knit socks on a wooden table. The yarn is self-striping, alternating between grey and earth tones with a brown toe and a navy cuff. The sock on the right is mostly complete in a spiral ribbed knit. The sock on the left only has the toe knit so far on double pointed needles.

Sometimes past me treats future me and the mail arrives on the same day. Can’t wait to dig in to the game by @almostbedtime.bsky.social and show off the tote bag from @thefoldcanada.bsky.social!
Printed copies of the solo tabletop role playing games “The Librarian’s Apprentice” and “Song of the Scryptwyrm”. The covers have slightly worn, antiqued art. One book is partly covering the other as they are stacked on top of each other. Black tote bag from Fold Apparel featuring a quote from R. F. Kuang’s novel “Babel” reading “An act of translation is always an act of betrayal.” The text is bold white with the words “translation” and “act of betrayal” coloured red.

I spent most of the weekend making this pair of pants for my partner to wear to an event this weekend, finishing the buttonholes and buttons tonight. This is only the second pair of pants I’ve ever made (and didn’t really have a pattern for this one), so I’m pretty proud! But…
A pair of olive-green pleated, full knee-length pants in a “medieval” style with gold buttons at the waist and leg bands lying on a wood table.

My copy of Mappa Mundi from @threesailsstudios.bsky.social arrived yesterday while I was in another game, and I wanted to take my time opening it. As others have said, the production quality is excellent. I can’t wait to explore Evasu in greater depth!
The Mappa Mundi ttrpg box open, showing the map art on the lid interior, with the game book open to a monster page showing an aquatic creature in flowing shades of blue and three journey cards for lake, forest, and beach.

The sages tell me no. But if charming poly dice will make your day, I’d recommend you chat with @fireincdesigns.bsky.social Lovely human being who makes lovely, geeky jewelry. (Also the source of my Frieren-inspired earrings.)
A pair of earrings on a backing card from Fire Inc Designs. The earrings are approximately 4 inches long and each one is made of 6 black & pink swirled polyhedral dice. Next to the earrings is an ear cuff with 6 watercolour swirled polyhedral dice hanging at various lengths from silver coloured chain.

I didn’t want @dieharddice.bsky.social to be left out of my holiday dice goodness, so of course I ordered some extra click-clack math rocks from them! Included in my order was this little treat.
A set of 7 mini polyhedral dice in a pale leather dice tray. The dice are opaque black with shimmery silver swirls and the numbers printed in red. To the right of the dice is an opaque black bag. The bag has a white sticker on it with a drawing of an anthropomorphic lump of coal wearing a green and red holiday elf hat and white gloves, holding a candy cane striped spear. There are flames along the bottom of the drawing. There is a speech bubble for the coal saying “Happy holidays, you naughty adventurer!”. The text on the sticker reads “You get coal this year. ❤️the nerds at Castle Die Hard”

It’s countdown calendar time again! This year I’m doing two dice calendars, one by @diceenvy.bsky.social and one by @adventuredice.ca I’ll thread the daily photos so they hopefully don’t overwhelm my timeline.
Two countdown advent calendar boxes on a wooden table. The box on the left is hexagonal shaped with a green & white illustration of evergreen trees in falling snow, with the numbers 1 through 24 in a random pattern; the box has the text Dice Envy Advent Calendar printed on it. The box on the right has a blue background with a hexagonal frame in the centre featuring a drawing of two elves making a traditional snowman while a fairy gets hit in the face with a snowball; the box has the text RPG Dice Countdown Calendar on the top, with the Adventure Dice logo in a hexagon below it but above the art and a white hexagon with the text 31 days beneath the art.

Less introspective: a couple of pics from a San Francisco Day 2 at the American Bookbinders Museum.
A display at the American Bookbinders Museum. Several books in various states of completion sit on a wood desk that is carved to resemble stacks of hardcover books. The book in the foreground has a red endsheet that is being prepared to glue on to the inside back cover. In the background are components for binding a book, including leather and parchment. A selfie of Kat, a mixed Chinese woman in her 40s. She has shoulder length brown hair with slight waves in it. She is wearing dangling earrings made of mini polyhedral dice. On her brown knit dress is a round white entry sticker for the American Bookbinders Museum. Over the dress is a recycled sari duster with an abstract red & green pattern on a cream & olive striped background.

Returning home after an intense trip sometimes leaves me feeling a bit like this sue ware (stoneware) piece from the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco called “Bottle in the shape of a leather bag”.
Photo of a sue ware (stoneware) piece from the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco called “Bottle in the shape of a leather bag”. The base of the piece is roughly triangular, opening to a slightly flared neck. The overall colour is a muted black, worn in places to grey or beige - especially on the sides. The clay has been imprinted to mimic the details and wear of a leather bag.

San Francisco day 1. Photos can’t describe the wonderful day exploring Chinatown and a FLGS with friends.
A blackboard at the “We Are Bruce Lee” exhibit at the Chinese Historical Society of America. This interactive part of the exhibit invites guests to answer the question “What Bruce Lee philosophy do you identify with most?” which is printed in Chinese characters and English at the top of the board. Handwritten answers in various colours of chalk include: discipline, mastery of self, spread love, and better together. An alley in San Francisco’s Chinatown. The left wall has some street art before continuing with some shop doors with awnings protruding into the alley. The right wall is brick. Overhead, two strings of colourful lanterns are hanging from a cable. A collage sign outside of Dogpatch Games in San Francisco. Each section of the sign includes an event or offering of the store, including Ladies Night Fridays, Kids Club, Learn + Play, Boardgame Leagues, and monthly LGBT+ events. The colours are a combination of alternating yellows and blues.

Hello, BlueSky! My name is Kat (she/her), and I primarily use social media as an analog games enthusiast. However, I’m a complex human being, so you may also see posts (or reposts) from me about crafty things, justice movements, and health/wellbeing.
A selfie of Kat. She is a mixed Chinese 40-something woman. She has shoulder length brown hair, brown eyes, and is wearing glasses with purple frames. The top of her outfit is a gathered chambray blue fabric, and a bit of a tattoo shows over her left collarbone.

My partner couldn’t decide which colour of yarn bowl from @measuredandslow.bsky.social to get for my birthday last month, so he bought 2. 😂 Luckily I have more than enough yarn in my horde to keep these dragons happy.
A pair of yarn bowls, each shaped like a curled up dragon, printed in bright rainbow filament. The one on the left is printed in a shimmery light pink and blue filament and contains balls of yarn in teal and lime green. The one on the right is printed in a rich purple with teal sheen and contains skeins of yarn in lime green, grape purple, raspberry fuschia, cranberry red, and pumpkin pie orange.

On this International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, Biphobia and Intersexphobia I want to remind my friends and followers that there is no space for hate at my table. For all who come in good faith, I hope to create a space with you where we can drink tea, play a game, or share a story.
