So it all ran on a dedicated a600. I never got to keep it. I think we got it (Maybe we even bought it), and at some point it was handed over to them. I did not need to start it from an assembler. I know this because they also played the game at the telekids show, and I was never there.

The Borobodur Amiga game was the brainchild of Team Hoi's former 2nd coder. I contributed a tiny bit of graphics, such as the game over picture, and @reiniervanvliet.eurosky.social made the music using our Digital Mugician music editor. Your entered nickname was projected on the game over grave. ☠️

I have added Mugician sourcecode (assembly) and Mugician sourcecode (assembly) to the repo. They transpile and run directly (Without all the added UI niceness). This means the transpiler now has Music chip emulation support and rudimentary support for AGA chipsets. 💚

Some time in the future I'll add Sidmon support (A music player that predates Mugician by 4 years), and Syntrax, a music player that succeeded Mugician by.... euh... 5 years? I'll post here when those updates are in, and new tunes (a lot from Ramon) are available. So more coming!

🧵 1/2 I happened to stumble upon a humorously written Moon Child development diary written by our coder @reiniervanvliet.eurosky.social in 1993. Check this quote. We would never have guessed that this would become something big 33 years later… 😃

Excerpt from Reinier van Vliet's Moon Child development diary:

"I retook the position as coder for MoonChild and I can proudly announce I've been working on it now for 1 straight month! This seems to be finally it, and it's going to be a sequel to our previous game Hoi as planned in the beginning. It will feature the old Hoi and his elderly brother. We wanna make it a two player game with a split-screen so the fun will be doubled. Metin has already made a lot of stunning gfx for the game and Ramon has started working on a title tune which even features lyrics! (Goes something like: Moonchild, ohwo-o-oh, you've got the power, to be his friend.) This sounds like a good idea to me."

Yes image with more colors 'ate' more DMA time, and that was the currency that both the videochip and the processor could user to access memory. The more colors, the less time for cool effects. Only with 16 colors and a crazy optimized mix loop could we achieve 7 voices.

This was the title track for the game 'Hoi 2' which we were creating for the Amiga. That eventually was stopped, and we restarted it on the PC as the game "Moon Child", which has the very similar music track.

Well, our player (as one of the few) actually also could play 7 channels. We did that by soft mixing 4 other channels into 1 and playing that into 1 of the hardware channels. This is why the Moon Child song sounds so full.
