Taking care of an elderly parent is exhausting. Then comes the afterlife when you have to reverse engineer their lives to cancel eight million subscriptions you didn't know they had.

I modified this kangaroo from the Snodgrass and Vanderwart picture set 20+ years ago when I was first learning photoshop during my postdoc. It's been years since I stumbled upon it. Look at the pink baby

My copy of Luria’s Higher Cortical Functions in Man arrived. Great chapter on cerebral localization and history. My prudence area is tingling. People literally believed that high level cognition occurred in the ventricles - for 1500 years

Skylight is in! My art studio demo/reno is really coming along. I moved gas lines, braced a sagging ceiling, pulled down walls, wired in lights — armed only with YouTube. No casualties and so far so good

I volunteered as an SLP in an orphange in Ukraine 8 years ago. We went to a restaurant in Lviv, and this was the restroom sign. I texted @ingridsbrain.bsky.social to ask which door I should enter. I chose wrong, and there was screaming. Explain your understanding of the logic of these symbols

work in progress -- analyzed all of wiktionary english word definitions 140k entries, >100 million tokens. Are dictionary definitions sensorimotor biased? Not really -- Concrete words tend to be defined by concrete words; abstract words by abstract words -- differing associative lexical networks.

Cognitive Science (one of my fave journals) is now perpetrating a Likert Scale crime in its review reports. They aren't counting on knuckleheads like me having no idea whether 1 is best/highest or worst/lowest. I asked them to change it and will undoubtedly get snarked at.

GAH! My R01 is being held up for public access non-compliance for two articles. All articles must be deposited in PubMed Central with zero embargo, but the publisher (in this case Elsevier) sets the embargo time. Has anyone encountered this issue? Open access papers are not embargoed, right? GAH
