It's depressing but it would be useful to see who owns what and just how little of the independent internet is left. I don't mind talking about it but I have no time this year to make one. We have a very, very ambitious release plan right now.

Takes out all the tension. The question really is how far can you go before people start being confused about what it is. The headline outside the app does precisely that: It makes you imagine it inside the editor.

I've always wanted to see iA Writer on posters in the streets of Zurich. This week we took a few days to make a draft. What do you think? They are inspired by the VW bug ads from Ogilvy. I think they work as posters as well as magazine ads (magazine ads are not gonna happen though).

Really enjoyed @reichenstein.bsky.social‘s thoughtful and entertaining talk at #smashingconf today! Amazing to see how philosophical ideas influenced the design of iA’s apps and what designers can and could learn from philosophy – and vice versa. A lot of food for thought!

Design awards usually go to what’s new. But here’s the paradox: The only way to tell if a design is really good is if it stands the test of time. So getting picked after 15 years is good news for good design. For ideas that hold up. For products built to last. ia.net/topics/apple...

Cleaning up the website for iA's 20th anniversary this year. Almost through all the illustrations. About 20 are missing and some are still lame. We will go through all of them and fix tagging, categorization and formatting, too. Try to find hi res images, where available. Taking care.

I think the reason why the Stock market gets so much attention is because it's easily measurable. Whether it matters or not—we now only believe that we can measure weigh and count. The other reason is that the stock market is the only metric the Republicans seemed to care about (until recently).

So while I don't understand anything about the financial industry, I understand that it is managed by a bunch of assholes unable to think beyond the next quarter. At the time, some financial industry wankers thought that moving Swiss Banks to the U.S. was in fact a great idea. Stunning stupidity.

In CH I think it's up to 100,000. Unless we deal with systemic failure. Basel II forced banks to cover more than 30% liquidity, which—a couple of weeks ago—triggered UBS CEO to say he might move the biggest Swiss bank to the U.S. unless capital demands are lowered: www.reuters.com/business/fin...

I understand pretty much nothing about the financial system, but the more I learn the weirder and scarier it gets. From what I learned, we've been skating on incredibly thin ice. And now we're skating on, while being circled by a couple of crack junkies in monster trucks.

I wish I had this much confidence in the financial market. To me it looks like a steam punk engine fixed with duck tape, rattling and humming that no one understands. And now we have a guy with a loose screw, pulling out hoses, pushing levers following an intuition that bankrupted him several times.

Hard to imagine that they drop more than 25%? It's not hard at all. It happened in the past. What is hard to imagine is what the U.S. administration is doing and saying right now. And that it has the same seemingly unimaginable consequences doesn't need any imagination, it just needs basic logic.

"Just the value of shares"? 🤣 There's a lot of collateral for loans in stocks. There are pension funds, questions of liquidity, and bank themselves are indexed as well. What happens according to Kirk if the market loses 25%, 50%, 75%, 90% in one week? Everything cool, it's just stock?

"...se faire une image cool sans message." You can go one step further: Since we "cannot *not* communicate" (Watzlawick), there still is a message. What is the message when you a stolen produced aesthetic without any substance? "I'm an empty shell following meaningless trends. I'm a sticky doll."
