Same LASK we only put three past last time away with Mo et al under Klopp. That and the two goals coming after scoring our sixth is not great but more excusable. More pros than cons.

Reminds me of some Jurgen games where we stopped attacking intent and got punished for a system that isn’t set up to contain teams. Subs didn’t help, no. But we stopped playing forward with intent, we stopped running from deep, played safe balls that allowed them onto us if we made errors. #LFC

The gap between Gomez and Van Dijk when the ball come down out right is huge. Gomez goes over and leaves a huge hole. Watch how deep Frimpong drops off to go with his man, the defensive line doesn’t follow. Very poor. #LFC

What we need to build is the suffocating of teams on the break, like under JK. Seen bits tonight, front 4 are doing the key work in the opposition half, around their box as a result. More mobility in midfield, Nyoni a protector allows a back 2 at tjmes with him in front. LASK can’t get out. #LFC

Agreed. The Wirtz I watched at Leverkusen was operating in the opposition half much more, that’s where he is a menace. I don’t feel we are dominating the ball to make him effective enough yet. It’s improved though. Seen in patches, Atletico at home being one example, Forest he was good too.

It’s funny. I said Carrick might be doing ok with 1 game a week, but there were warning signs when they played twice at the end of the season. Stick or twist again for them. Like many teams you can’t replace enough players in one or two windows these days.

Given Cherki has created 74 chances with 14 assists, Flo 71 with 4, it does feel like his team mates need to step up and finish some off. Fine margins in this game but Cherki has settled players around him, mostly, we are still building. Interesting though.

Agreed. I don’t think we see proper Iraola football until the new year. He needs time and players need time. Plus those recovering from injuries add depth which will help. This week will be tough with only 15 fully fit players, then a trip to Brentford.

I think that’s it, they’re all learning the triggers and who goes, where IA wants them in and out of possession. That and players are understanding when and where each other wants the ball, their movements etc. There’s positives and effort but it might take time to polish it and see who leads.

The most likely was Ekitike but his injury might of changed that, hope not, but I think the others need time to step up. My early observation is they all seem wary of positioning, where to be, who to track, when to press, attacking patterns. Lots of instructions on what AI wants. Needs time.

I think our attacker leaders will need to develop over the next two seasons. Once the system has developed and they’ve all got used to each other. Lots of rotation will happen so will need more than one leader.

I don’t think it needs to be built around anyone specific really. Iraola is set on his system and yeah he will need players who get it, but I think if we replace Gakpo with more pace and versatility the front is set, it’s the midfield dynamism he needs next. The legs to attack & get back.

Gotcha. I think we asked about Anderson, but wide areas was a priority, his fee etc. I think next summer the likes of Wharton / Scott become options. I think they’ll be options. And Olise, he was the end of Salah contract play originally, be interesting to see if that is still the case.

We didn’t need money to bring Henderson back. Just not an option we looked at I imagine. Would’ve been useful though.

This is my point. By “law” the ref can stake w claim to be correct but I want to watch 11 vs 11. As someone who watches a lot of football, the ease at which yellows are dished out means too often I’m turning over because of stupid red cards. Yesterday didn’t have tackles that warranted them.

On a day where the Premier League’s integrity was already under the microscope a referee stepped up and ruined a nicely balanced game with soft officiating, all with the eyes of the world watching, just what the product deserved really to be honest. #LFC We should all turn to non-league.

No, Araujo got carded for showing an imaginary yellow. Which is fine, but Guehi should’ve been booked too. There was also City players asking for the second yellow but nothing. I want to watch 11 vs 11, that’s what we all want to see, but too often now games getting ruined by soft decisions.

You can’t analyse games that turn on the peep of a ref’s whistle. Lots to like today and lots to improve but for any side to lose a player for two yellows like that is awful in a top league. I hope the PGMOL have to answer questions on that. Ruined a tight and tough game. #LFC

The annoying thing is, on another day, Gravenberch doesn’t even get booked for one, let alone both of those tackles. Poor refereeing decisions, games shouldn’t be losing players for two tackles like that. 🙄 #LFC
