Was lovely to meet @orchardnotes.com last weekend and take a look around the walled garden at NT Quarry Bank Mill. (Thank you again for the apples!) Beautiful garden, full of colour and lots of edible plants. Saw the biggest mulberry tree I've ever seen and some beautiful little pomegranate bushes.

The Times coverage of what the Code is likely to contain is embarrassingly wrong. It talks repeatedly about what it will tell employers to do – but, of course, the guidance is only for service providers and associations. This is a question of basic accuracy and understanding. Shameful.

Perplexed.

My daughter has recently transitioned, and I support her wholeheartedly, but I'm a bit perplexed, because I didn't see any sign of it before. Is that normal? Ciel replies : well first, let's mention that the "signs" you refer to (clothing, toys, interests, etc I guess?) would be part of someone's gender expression, which is distinct from gender identity. Often, very early on, trans and gender non-conforming kids learn to mask their gender expression to avoid social disapproval. gender policing is cruel! Also, it's worth stressing the fact that people aren't trans just because they like things associated with another gender. so unless a child says that they identify as another gender than the one they were assigned at birth, there's no actual sign! the caller replies : thank you gender helpline.

Recently tried 2 new-to-me apples Cornish Gilliflower & Junami. Wouldn't go for the Gilliflower again. Bit chalky for me & the flavour wasn't excellent. But the Junami was crisp, juicy & had a good, fresh flavour. Even a couple of weeks after buying them from the reduced section. @orchardnotes.com

Gender-neutral bathrooms : A guide

Picked up these Kissabel apples in the supermarket reduced section. Not one I would grow, the flesh is a little on the chalky side and I prefer crisp and crunchy. But still a nice apple. 3 of them going into the dehydrator. See how they fair.
