I graduated from CCA 21 years ago. It was announced that the college would be closed next year after being purchased by Vanderbilt University. (120-year run) Even though I paid for college, I still think higher education should be free, and we'll pay the costs for it not being free. Funny timing.

Technically, it's "Forward", which kind of makes sense, but only with the context for "Reply" and "Reply all". Making a social media platform more like email seems like a bad direction to me.

Reply, Replay all, and Forward options with icons and labels from Gmail.

In 2012, I made a linocut of Thomas Kinkade's mugshot as a Secret Santa gift for the art supply store my wife worked at. Thomas Kinkade was a modern-day Carrivagio, but meant in the most cynical way possible. He called himself the "paint of light™️", but was a pretty tacky and shitty dude.

I started working on a new background texture for my desktop. I'm still tweaking the values and may go with something a little less saturated. It's nice to have the colors in the background to test the color contrasts of images. I'm curious how bsky handles 5120x1440 images.

I've been thinking about getting some mock-up templates for my portfolio, so my presentation looks a little more exciting than a basic screenshot… and now AdSense is flooding my feed, like the demand is so low that when someone finally showed interest, these companies rush in like hungry wolves.

I really wanted to like Dept. Q, especially being based in Edinburgh, but it was a slog. I hope they find their feet in Season 2. There were some good bits and characters, but for a show about paying attention to details, there were so many continuity issues. Akram was great though.

Just had underfloor insulation added to our 1880's Edinburgh flat. I went down to clear out some junk from the hoarder tenants here before us, and it was pretty terrifying. Like, super gross, with the added fun of me getting claustrophobic. Thankfully we cleared out a lot of the junk.

Doing research into color spaces has been fun. I still haven't decided if I'm an HSL or HSV kind of guy. That said, I'm really struck by this black & white diagram from a patent filed in 1983, showing how color maps to the HSL space (Hue, Saturation, Lightness).

Tektronix graphics terminals used the earliest commercial implementation of HSL, in 1979. This diagram, from a patent filed in 1983, shows the bicone geometry underlying the model.
