I try to earn that trust from the player." 515840
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Absolutely agree. The scene itself is pefrect, and great translation elevates it even further 010
Reposted by @red-mors.bsky.socialGareth DAMIAN MARTIN | Jump Over the Age @jumpovertheage.com · 05/08/2026Writing is so often named either "good", "bad" or perhaps "mediocre" in videogames, and that's the end of the discussion. But prose can have so many different qualities and subtleties, and styles often have different objectives and intents. 1173

red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 16/04/2026April 1st themed one shot where players raced as a team of villains against different heroes. The Alien infiltrating Howl's Moving Castle, players murdering a fairytale team on the starting line, and convincing Princesses of the threat of Red Workers Revolution were extremely hilarious 020
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 14/04/2026Never thought of myself as a gardener. I thoroughly enjoy when every element is interconnected and things feel thought out. It turns out that writing all connections beforehand is not my strong suit. 010
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 14/04/2026My usual approach to setting creation is imaginingthe main image and then figuring it out on the go. But currently I'm working on a bigger writing project, and I feel like I'm supposed to have an entire fictional world in my head. A bit stressful. 110
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/04/2026I've made an 85-video playlist on YouTube with every video on TTRPG dungeon design I could find, and some extras (some videogame level design) I hope this will be enough to teach myself how to make a final boss dungeon for my 1.5 year campaign 😅 020
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 10/04/2026I like how sometimes Greedfall gives you several quests at once, lets you approach them in any order and has them influence each other in terms of how you could approach them. It really clicks when it ramps up nonlinearity. 000
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 10/04/2026Playing the first Greedfall, right in the mood for "follow the marker to talk to 5 NPCs in succession" type of quests. But I do start to feel backtracking fatigue. There is combat and stealth, but I still wonder what can be done to make some quests more engaging 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 07/04/2026I copied levels from Satellite Reign videogame and reskinned them as fantasy dungeons for my home game 020

red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 03/04/2026I just love videogames. To think that none of the previous generations could have ever experienced this medium because it just didn't exist. Working in this industry is like magic taking form. 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 22/03/2026What's a better way to spend a Sunday than 12-hour LotR marathon in the theater? 000

red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 23/02/2026Felt Steam wishlist's effect on myself. Got an email that Greedfall is 90% off. One of those games that I thought "nah, I'll play eventually." But at this specific moment I was in the mood for some Bioware-esque cinematic RPGs, and I had just enough in my Steam wallet. That's how they get you 010
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 21/02/2026And for Destruction, I don't think that you absolutely need to allow your players to be murder-hobos For me it's about immediate and strong reactions to players actions from the world: both good or bad. Agency and intensity. 000
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 21/02/2026Just being more emotional and physical in your narration, using acting techniques to invoke these feelings in your players should give you needed results. 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 21/02/2026Generally, the idea behind Action motivation is about reaction speed, but I like to think of it in terms of physicality, of body sensations. To use this motivations in your TTRPGs, you don't need to add purely physical mechanics like darts or jenga. 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 21/02/2026Let's talk about bit about motivations in Quantic Foundry model. The first one is Action and it shares the name with one of the basic genres. The model proposes two components — Destruction which for me is agency + high intensity, and Excitement which I think is about sensory input. 110
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 20/02/2026Mainly, some interesting low-stakes puzzles in 3D environment. Polarity goes purely for the Mastery motivation, maybe with some hints of Achievement (it features hidden collectibles). I think that Portal went into mainstream by the virtue of triggering Immersion and Action motivations as well. 000
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 20/02/2026Continuing my journey through the backlog. Finished a short 3D puzzle-platformer Polarity in one sitting. This is an amateur Portal clone from the mid 2010s with all the simple presentation, lack of narrative and game-breaking bugs to expect from such titles, but it does well what it sets to do. 100
Reposted by @red-mors.bsky.socialYarn Spinner Tool @yarnspinner.dev · 19/02/2026The Citizen Sleeper 1 soundtrack is such a regular listen in our house that it's become a solution whenever we need to calm the dogs down, alongside "little bits of chicken" and "YouTube videos of ducks". 1221
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 15/02/2026Like grimdark, but with focus on living instead of fighting. A heroism of drinking tea with a friend when the world is on fire. 000
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 15/02/2026I've been thinking about the way to position my stories in today's genre landscape. I don't write classical heroic fantasy or dark or low fantasy or romantasy. Though I have elements of those themes. If I have to use one label, I think I would name it cozydark. 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 14/02/2026It features 12 motivations, each of them evaluated based on average. Being so granular, it looks into every player's unique psychological needs. I feel that this system can be used not only for self-explorarion or game market positioning, but in many other places. Like writing TTRPG adventures XD 000
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 14/02/2026My favorite gamer classification system is Quantic Foundry's Gamer Motivation Profile. I like that it uses scientific approach and bases its findings on a giant pool of people. I also love that in its core is not about assigning one label to a person, but about exploring different facets of oneself. 110
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 13/02/2026I feel like a very casual player lately. Played Dispatch and Braveland (a short tactical game, likely a mobile port). Tried my hand at Titan Souls, a 2D boss rush, and didn't feel like doing it. Am I lazy to learn new things overcome challenges? Maybe I just have enough stress in real life 000
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026It saddens me to see indie devs deciding to localize their game with AI. I know that localization is costly, and making your game available in other languages is a good thing for both marketing and accessibility, but... I don't know, games deserve better 000
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026I will keep going through my backlog in the same way, from the newest to the oldest. But maybe it will take me a year or two longer, as I will not deny myself the pleasure of playing something like Esoteric Ebb on release and not in 2033 XD 000
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026So... I've recently bought Dispatch and played it in two and a half days. Awesome game, deserving of all the praise. It turns out, it's time for me to change my process again. Maybe sometimes playing something that I know I will enjoy immensely will only make me appreciate the artform more. 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026All the games, they somehow got into my library in the first place. I must have bought them, or claimed free, or reciewed as a gift But I still got them for myself. In some sense they all are presents from my past self to me now. It helped me approach this whole quest with curiosity and gratitude 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026I've had a couple of pleasant surprises: Orwel among them or The Flame in the Flood, or recently — Satellite Reign. Some I've liked less, some dropped from the outset. But in the process I came to one conclusion, like a shift in perspective. 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026And I've started with the latter. Because I will be in the mood to play one of the games I'm excited about any time. And this backlog project is about closing the loose ends. I've started going through the list in reverse chronological order: from the newest to the oldest. 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026So I've started losing heart again. Until I've got around my favorite tool — segmentation. I've split the remaining list into two: games I'm really excited about playing and all the rest. 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026My "Not played" list started getting smaller, for example, in 2025 I've tried 18 whole games, of which I've finished 12 — not a bad record! But I still have more than 60 games left, and based on How Long to Beat estimations and my current pace, it will take me up to 10 years to actually finish them 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026I quickly figured that I'm too scared to play horrors. I somehow got around to finishing Little Nightmares (absolutely worth it), but after a couple of hours in Alan Wake and like 10 minutes in Layers of Fear, a put those games down without guilt 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026I've still ended up crossing some games from the list entirely. For example, Eador felt like a game that is to demanding of my time. I had the remaster in my library, but decided to not even try it. 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026Restricting myself into finishing every game I try, no matter how little value it provides to me at this moment, is making gaming into a chore. So my goal now is to try every game in my library. To give it a honest shot, preferably at least 3 hours, and then to pass any judgment I might have. 110
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026But do I need to finish them? Games are for fun. They are for many things: for transformation, for catharsis, for learning for empathy, even for boredom. But they are not for being a chore. 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026Then, I'm limiting myself to one platform: I'm talking only about digital games on Steam. So no Epic with hundreds of free games I've claimed, no consoles, no boardgames. This way the task became much more manageable: to finish all games I currently have in my Steam library. 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026But it's literally impossible, there always will be the next cool game. So I decided to intentionally limit what I consider to be part of the backlog. First of all, I will be only considering already bought products. If I don't have it, it is not in my backlog. 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 12/02/2026For the past couple of years, inspired by Daryl Talks Games, I'm trying to finish my backlog. But for me it's not about playing everything I wanted to play ever, it's more about following through, about finishing stuff. I'm looking for a feeling of being backlog-free. 100
red-mors.bsky.social @red-mors.bsky.social · 11/02/2026I'm currently approaching the end of my longest TTRPG campaign, and I'm really frozen — I want to do our shared experience justice. But I'm not sure I have the skills to pull it off 😅 000
