Every ten years since 1952, Sight & Sound Magazine and the British Film Institute have polled hundreds of critics from around the world, asking them only one question: what are the greatest films ever made? Some consider it the definitive greatest-of-all-time list, some a conversation starter, some a load of elitist nonsense—sometimes all three. The 2022 edition proved to be everything you'd want from such a list: diverse, controversial, a little peculiar, but never boring.
