Ugh...had the worst dream. I was somewhere called...Reach City? And for some reason everyone saw my ass...Kelly, Linda and Fred weren't there. Then I was cancelled.

I have to...Keyes could be in there. And Cortana spoke of something that scared the Covenant. It could be a new threat, or a way to stop them. ...either way, I have to know.

More of that weird crap on the floor. And a marine who snapped. These guys survived Reach....what could do that to him? Kept talking about "I won't let you make me into one of them," and "they took the Captain." I hope the poor guy makes it out, but...I'm finding myself jumping at shadows....

It was something he hadn't felt in so long. Not even on Reach, or any of the other countless battlefields he found himself in. This entrance. Why did it make him feel...dread? He had to go in. But for the briefest of moments, he found it hard to move his feet. This feeling pulling him in the+

One of the marines just asked him what he would be if he wasn't a soldier. He simply stared. Unsure how to answer his question. Or even how to process it. What was taken from him? What could have been? He did not answer. He simply stared.

Good thing I don't have to deal with that. Now, if you excuse me, I have to go see what Keyes found in that weapons cache.

It feels like I'm being watched. Not by the Covenant. The grunts seem terrified, but not of me. That's not *too* unusual, but the jackals seem afraid too...but come to think of it, I haven't seen an elite since I left the Control Room. Normally, I'd be happy about that...why does it bother me?

John 117 (CE) @recalimer117.bsky.social · 25/07/2026

Keyes' signal was led me to this....swamp. Cortana was very cryptic. The Covenant released something? And now they're afraid?

John 117 (CE) @recalimer117.bsky.social · 24/07/2026

The Covenant is spreading propaganda across the UNSC battle net. If you see "single kig-yar ship mistresses in your sector", do not respond.

The Harbinger didn't think she was bad. But you're right. We can't judge the threat level of a species off the actions of one...but I'd be lying if I said I'm not nervous. We barely handled the one.

"An alliance of species held together by a common religion. At least, as far as we can gather. They don't talk to us much. For the last thirty years, they've been trying to exterminate humanity. They just burned one of our last worlds, Reach. Earth, our homeworld is next."

He still saw Reach in his dreams. Burning. All the people he couldn't save. Was Mendes okay? Halsey? He heard them, and others calling to him through the flames. But couldn't reach them. He was pulled away, to a ring. Why did the ring scare him? Scare....he was afraid. For himself. A new feeling.

Yes, Cortana. I can see that cave is not a natural formation. Caves aren't typically metal, and perfectly rectangular.
