Time for some old art from the vault. Let's dip into 2021 again... Megabyte vs Mouse. Sorta a prelude to "the hunt" video fanimatic thing I made not long after this. #ReBoot #ReBootfanart

A story in 3 parts from the good ol' Twitter days. #ReBoot

A photo of action figures of Dot Matrix and Megabyte from ReBoot. Dot is sat in Megabyte's lap. Text above them from an old Twitter post by Jurious reads "Had them out for refs and left them sat by my bed. Glanced at them now and realised they look so posed. It's like the cheesiest pic ever. 😅 Such grins."

A reply to the Twitter post in the previous picture. Reply is from Twitter User @Battycakes1 and reads "He looks blazed out of his capacitors and she looks like she just took a hit offs day magnet and I just can't XP"

Digital sketch by Jurious of Megabyte and Dot Matrix from ReBoot, inspired by previous photo and Twitter response. Dot is sat in Megabyte's lap with a bottle of what looks like alcohol in her hand. Megabyte is smoking a spliff. Dot is smiling drunkly and Megabyte is laughing with eyes and mouth wide, appearing high.

In case you were wondering about the #RebootRewind team, here is the quick overview

032

ReBoot Cartoon @rebootcartoon.bsky.social · 19/02/2025

I'm not exactly sure their affiliation. From what I can tell they are fans working on a project that has the green light from mainframe but are not working for mainframe. @xbrav.bsky.social @jacobbweldon.bsky.social or @blaquewidowe.bsky.social can probably clarify that more

ReBoot - "Sacrifices": Okay, now I've seen the whole thing. That was an incredibly heartbreaking episode to watch. ...but it ends with a WTF of an ending that makes the episode challenging to evaluate on its own merits. I had someone advise I not watch past this point, but I need some resolution.

They say that 1939 Britain stood alone against a despot. That's not true. Canadian kids were signing up in the thousands. We were there to defend British skies. Now Canada stands alone in the face of despotism.and there is crickets from our European allies. But we've got this. Canada. #strongasfuck

Same! It wasn't until around s3 release that I had internet and there was a viable online reboot community

If @jurious.bsky.social wants to chime in, we could get our answer haha

130

ReBoot Cartoon @rebootcartoon.bsky.social · 30/01/2025

Well I'm sure it's quite subjective and there's a LOT of bias on my part. I'd say in a more objective breaking bad is probably my show to beat, they avoided so many landmines on the way to a really great ending. Another would be cowboy bebop

ReBoot Cartoon @rebootcartoon.bsky.social · 30/01/2025

I believe great Britain never saw past s2 until s4 came out. So imagine the cliffhanger there!

110

ReBoot Cartoon @rebootcartoon.bsky.social · 30/01/2025

Yes, and for about 4 yrs we considered this the end, the questions and loose ends were def fodder for some fun fan theories, continuations a fics. It was MASSIVE when s4 was announced! This will always stand as my perfect ending to a show.

110

ReBoot Cartoon @rebootcartoon.bsky.social · 30/01/2025

Yes, and even with what they have they put it to good use. Emotionally we have a clear understanding of each character which I think is more than enough to get us from a to b. I'll be interested in your thoughts on characterization in s4

ReBoot Cartoon @rebootcartoon.bsky.social · 30/01/2025

Yeah I was disappointed in how much of a backseat dot and mouse take here. I really wanted it to have a similar team dynamic as the first few eps of this season but with a much more capable Matrix. Always felt that would have been very affirming for him.

ReBoot - "Showdown": Is it wrong if my favorite part of the episode is the honage to "The Search for Spock?" A good episode otherwise, though it invokes at least one really bad trope. I'll be curious to see what events here mean for Hex, and whether we ever see Megabyte again.

ReBoot Cartoon @rebootcartoon.bsky.social · 29/01/2025

ReBoot: "MegaFrame" - That's much better! No weird logic and no convenient plot devices. They still have some unanswered questions by the end, but that may be intentional. Poor Phong!

ReBoot Cartoon @rebootcartoon.bsky.social · 29/01/2025

Man coming into this ep is had such a mixed bag of emotion from just not knowing what happened since game over and it just delivers body blow after body blow

010

ReBoot Cartoon @rebootcartoon.bsky.social · 28/01/2025

I remember having that reaction too about glitch talking! I will say, I'm a big believer in the "rule of cool" but that one still made me scratch my head

110

ReBoot Cartoon @rebootcartoon.bsky.social · 28/01/2025

Same, I mean any criticism I have of reboot is never very strong haha. I do remember when i saw glitch and Bob merge for the first time I was just so stunned and excited. So I guess that it all worked out the way they hoped in my case.

110

ReBoot Cartoon @rebootcartoon.bsky.social · 28/01/2025

Same honestly, I get why, writing wise, they just needed to get to mainframe (limited ep numbers) so I give it a pass but I think they could have skipped at least "where no sprite has gone before" and used that ep to give them a good "getting back to mainframe" 2 ep arc.

110

ReBoot Cartoon @rebootcartoon.bsky.social · 27/01/2025

3d modeling for me too! It was in its infancy so all the programs were super expensive and hard to learn (I eventually found a pirated version). I was trying to find a college to learn but none were affordable for me at the time.

Yeah, matrix is definitely complicated which means there'll be lots of different opinions on him. I think despite the toxicity he is redeemable, he shows that in number 7 when he refuses to be what he hates. That ep is so critical for matrix character
