Glasgow routes record surge in cycling as active travel grows
Cycling is becoming a bigger part of everyday travel in Glasgow, with trips counted by the city’s cycle network up 74% in two years. More than 6.37 million journeys were recorded by 88 automatic cycle counters between January and August, an increase of 30.4% on the same period in 2025. The rise comes as several Glasgow routes record higher levels of cycling, with Cycling Scotland finding that bikes accounted for 16.6% of traffic on Victoria Road during its latest survey.
