Drop some muscles. Does my own book character count?
Thalia Clayton from Sigils of Blight, with her tattoos.

Thalia has brown hair with red highlights, hazel monolid eyes, and a rosy smile. arms are exposed, showing her muscles and her tattoos of a calygreyhound, serpent, winged snake, a phoenix, and a crow on her left index finger.

Thalia is wearing her undergarments, but they don't show much. Bloomers and a camisole. In her hand is a men's green shirt. Her hair is up and she has simple earrings.

I'm slowly chewing through my WIP, but page 12 is my favorite section so far. From Flowers & Entomology, my dryads are unfortunately disturbing Whispers' human neighbor with science. #SnippetShare #WritingCommunity #AmWriting #SFF
Snippet from Flowers and Entomology:

"Sexual cannibalism?" Zinnian made a face. Expressions were a good way to decipher a human's feelings, and this human was uncomfortable.

Whispers said, "The females don't eat the whole male. Just the head."

"Uhhh…" Zinnian almost spilled his cup of tea.
Whispers explained, "We're going to put a collar on the male."

"Kinky," remarked the human.

Kinky was a concept that dryads didn't share with animals. Despite rumors to the contrary, sharing pollen was better for the plants a dryad's seed stone had bonded to. To procreate, Whispers kind actually...

Whispers' inner monologue was interrupted when Sylvia asked Zinnian, "Who made your camera?"

Zinnian frowned, but he found a smile before answering. "I should admit now that I broke up with Olivia. My boss. Well, former boss I suppose. I don't think she'll want me wandering the tunnels now."

"I'm sorry to hear that," Sylvia softly said. "Does anyone else make cameras? A watchmaker perhaps?"

"I'm not sure," Zinnian replied.

Whispers had already gone to the kitchen to grab crackers and bright red jelly. He then scuttled back into the living room and set the treats down. "Eat," Whispers demanded.

Scooping up some jelly, Zinnian had to ask, "Is this prickly pear?"

"Of course not! I won't bear fruit for another sixty days. It's strawberry," Whispers declared. "I'll deliver some next door when they're ripe."

Sylvia happily tried some.

Zinnian sighed and took a bite. After swallowing, he said, "It's a little weird you feed people your body parts."

"I must feed the pears to something! Otherwise, they simply fall off. I can't eat them all."

Something he said unnerved his human guest again. At least Sylvia was happily munching away at crackers.

#AwesomeCharacters Until I joined Bluesky, I didn't know what a bisexual disaster was, but Thalia is 100% a bi disaster and I love her, even if love and death are her greatest struggles. To clarify, romantic love is trouble. Everything this mad woman does is in the name of other kinds of love.

A calygreyhound from the Sigils books by Rebecca E. Reyes:

He has a lynx's face and tail, a stag's body, antlers and back legs, and the wings and claws of a mythical eagle called a roc. I don't describe the jeweled toned wings in the books, but I had fun coloring them.

#WIPSnips 🦄 From Twisted Ivory, a prequel that can be its own standalone story, but is the origin story for how Jacoby and Biscuit became sorcerer and familiar. The setting is a fantasy 1910's circus, so the heavy handed theme is anti-exploitation with gray characters. #WIP #Snippet #Writesky
Snippet from Twisted Ivory, a prequel work in progress for Sigils of Malice:

From his enclosure, two cages down, Frendo roared. His cage rattled.

Thalia jumped when the unicorn brayed, but it wasn't at her. Jacoby figured the arcanafauna were talking to each other. Thalia relaxed when the unicorn sat down on its belly, watching the intrusive acrobat.

She held her hand out again. "Sniff. It's okay."

Thalia's cellmate exposed his teeth. Like a horse, they were square in the front. From this profile, Jacoby realized the unicorn also had sharp fangs like a wolf. Flared nostrils and a heavy breath, the unicorn got what he wanted.

Thalia said, "Yeah, I'm probably very stinky."

Jacoby giggled. She smelled better than the laundry.

She continued in a gentle tone, "You're a sweet boy. If I'm ever free of this place, I'll take you with me."

#SeptemberWorldbuilders 8 The Navikulans do! Little, dense semi-spherical cakes. A copy of an object forms in the Abyss for deceased loved ones if placed on their shrine or grave, giving the spirit willpower in the afterlife. The only places a ghost can usually eat are afterlife realms... 1/2
Redacted snippet from Sigils of the Abyss:

The soul cage dropped. Although [WISP] could fly freely now, Tinkerer politely opened the wire door. On a plate, just outside the cage, was a round, red, glossy cake.

[WISP] wondered, 'Can I eat real cake?'

"You are confused?" Tinkerer asked.

[WISP] didn’t know what other emotion she was supposed to have. The cake did not look like anything she had eaten in life before.

"Does Omera not give offerings to her fallen?" he asked.

'Yes, but not food,' [WISP] chimed in amusement.

Candle lit shrines with material objects were supposed to provide light and help guide loved ones towards the Radiance in comfort. Ava probably had her toy on her shrine. Many candles were now around [FALLEN CITY].

#WIPSnips No. I will not provide context for some of the questionable things in this scene regarding my tainted holy man. You'll just have to read the confusing and weird book when it comes out. Anyway, I have THREE lifts/elevators so far in this book. #WritingCommunity #WritingPrompts #SFF
Snippet from Sigils of the Abyss (Book 3):

There was only one person Alderius wanted to see naked, but he needed to find her in the Overworld first. Unfortunately, the mad woman had corrupted his imagination yet again. At least it amused Astrid, giggling with her sister, Zinnia.

They did not take the spiral staircase, much to Barys’ disappointment. "I wanted a closer look at the dragon fossil."

"You can later," Alderius told him, still trying to have clean thoughts.
Instead, Mr. Gneisston led them to another demonstration of the engineering students’ prowess. An elevator with a mechanical gate opened.

Alderius didn’t see a cable, but rather a power crystal that doubled as a lamp. Mana lines connected to large gears on the sides of the car, correlating with notches going up the chute. The ride to the top was perfectly silent.

"Omera stopped gifting true power crystals a few decades ago. Are these Synethian?" Alderius asked.

#Sustember 5 Snippet from Sigils of the Abyss (Book 3) CW and context: Everyone in this scene is in the afterlife and it includes children, but there's nothing gory or even context for how they died. They're playing in Sanctuary City's Playground District. #WIP #Snippet #SFF
Snippet from Sigils of the Abyss:

Thalia was immediately surrounded by innumerable squealing children, asking her questions and clinging to her legs. She had to put Ava on her shoulders while she shuffled around.

'Zinnian is going to be a bit cross,' Thalia thought. 'Ah, who cares?'

After setting Ava on some bars, Thalia flexed her large muscles for the children, lifted as many as she could, and did circus tricks on playground equipment. When asked about the arcanafauna at the Clayton Enchanted Extravaganza, Thalia gleefully rambled.

Another psychopomp approached the group. Instead of a lamp, she had a clay bowl filled with burning wax embedded in her chest. In a thick Navikulan accent, she asked, "Are we having fun?" Her consonants were hard and her R’s rolled. The bells sewn into her dress jingled.

"Indeed," Thalia said, mostly hidden by the army of kids.

"Who do we have glowing here?" Jingling Pomp asked.
Standing up with a beaming grin, Thalia announced herself. "Thalia Clayton! Former acrobat and current lamp."

Snippet from Flowers & Entomology:

Velvet Gosling Avenue was more of an alleyway than a street — both sides were lined with shops twisting to conform to Grace's mountainside. It catered more to wealthy tourists than locals, but it was still a lovely stroll for Whispers, an older transplant himself.

Before long, he was in Gosling Park. It was a grassy, oval garden below imported marble villas. A glittering lake sparkled in the middle. This was the perfect home for the larvae.

Map of Zinnia and Alder University for the novelette, Flowers & Entomology. It's a work in progress, but beyond the front gate are paths in a garden going to various buildings with symbols on the rooftops rather than a realistic aerial drawing.

Building 2: Security Office has an artful pegasus and griffin.

Building 3: Engineering and Mechanics has a dragon beside a cog with several smoky chimneys.

Building 4: World Studies has a six limbed cephalopod on an explosion of tile.

I've never had a review on Book Bub before!
A 5 star review on BookBub by an @andreinstinct575 for The Sarcophagus of Lamia Book 1. They said:

What a ride. Reminiscent of Alien, but with fairytale references, the action kicks in and never ceases to the very end.

The crew of the Magpie have their hands full. Initially hired to retrieve a black box, but what they soon discover is a mysterious pod with a beautiful cadaver. Haunting dreams await in this fast-paced adventure as the crew races to uncover the truth behind their ordeal. But will they make it to their destination before it's too late?

This was quite an enjoyable short. Highly recommended to fans of cyberpunk and dystopian scifi.

As soon as Whispers saw Thalia outside of his classroom, he put up his little arms. "Let’s take a quick recess everyone. One of my spelunkers is back." He hopped from his stool at the podium.

Thalia did not see Jacoby or Biscuit as she followed Whispers. The professor waddled with the speed of an eager tortoise to his office. Once there, she still did not see them.

"Where’s JJ and Biscuit?" Thalia asked, tripping over an unseen unicorn.

The invisible duo appeared before her, with Jacoby coloring. Biscuit snorted at her for indignantly stepping on him.

"If you are invisible, how was I supposed to avoid you?" she retorted.

Post your book covers! 📚💖 Soo to be more, as soon as I've got the time. Life has been changing so rapidly, I've not so much as opened a document since Thursday last week. 😅 Art by @nuclearnarwhal.bsky.social

The picture is of an ethereal blonde woman's resting face, laying back upon red velvet. She has a silver implant in her hair. In front of her is a round, gothic window with gold filigree. Leaves, faces and fish are in the filigree's design.

The picture is of an artful red orb of light surrounded by fanciful filigree. In the background is a hint of mycelium. It's glowing against a black background.

#CartAugust 20 The big sacred sites on the map, and they are or will be story importan. Watchtower Cathedral is steampunk magic "Disney World" that'll kill you and also where Omera created humanity. Zinnia's shrine is a massive copper mine and religous site outside Watchtower. 1/2 (Grace below)
From my large map, the Imperial Capital of Grace looking regal, Watchtower Cathedral looking mechanical and with a large clock and many flags, the Turquoise Temple of Saint Zinnia, and Grace's arcane Fissure.

Most borders are natural within the empire. The border wall isn't a "keep people out" insular thing. It's a control and monitor the enemy fortress that keeps people in (for the most part). Navikulan immigrants are common. Imperial ones are not. Water is a bit blurry.
he full, inky, black and white map for the Sigils books by Rebecca E. Reyes with blue borders marking the Omeran Empires borders, red lines marking the kingdoms and provinces within the empire, and magenta marking Navikula's known border. The colors blur and mingle in the ocean.

It shows dozens of cities and landmarks in the Omeran Empire's five territories: Northern Omera, Southern Omera, Province of Alderia, the Kingdom of Delamar, and the Terralia Islands.

Navikula has an unnatural fog of war. Omerans don't know what's over there anymore. Only what's just beyond the wall and on the southern shore.

Way south is the Singing Woods, hiding Syneth, with lakes on the canopies where the southern border ends. Otherwise, the west is blocked off by mountains and the ocean seems endless, hence why it's called the Endless Ink.

Beasts drawn on the map are a kraken in the water, a dragon among the basalt and volcanoes, a harpy automaton at the Navikulan Border Wall, unicorns in the Singing Woods, a calygreyhound in the Valley of the beasts, and a gloom spider in Navikula's void.

There’s a big turtle with a jungle on her back in the corner.

#CartAugust 18 Apart from raw mana bubbling up, I have a few. Remnantite is an alloy with a forgotten recipe, so I'm not sure it counts for this question. I think most invented resources come from the singing woods and they're plants/reagents, not minerals.
Botanical art of reagents used in the Sigils universe for healing.

Passion Thistle is a wild onion with pink flowers used for healing.

Vigorita is a magical cross between sugarcane and coffee, with wiggly leaves and red berries ion a bamboo-like stem for energy.

Brittle Blood is a used to treat diseases. It's a glowing pomegranate.
