You guys are amazing and while I didn’t think it would be this soon, I’m so excited to share the title reveal for a Book 3! Wheel of Fortune Style, so guess a letter, and if you think you know the title, shoot me a DM! (I’ve given you a few letters but not the entire R, S, T, L, N, E pack.)

Y’all, it’s only been a couple days I already need to update the graphic and, apparently, release some super secret info! 👀

Rebecca Minelga - Add FALSE START on Goodreads! @rebeccaminelga.com · 10/09/2026

Yeah, it’s almost more stressful because I’m constantly like “I could be doing something right now, but then we’re leaving in 20 minutes, so maybe I’ll just read instead.” I’m definitely a person who needs at least an hour to get my head into the right space to be productive writing.

I love sitting out on my back porch in the sun and writing while my kids swim in the pool! It’s my summertime favorite!

Rebecca Minelga - Add FALSE START on Goodreads! @rebeccaminelga.com · 10/09/2026

Yeah, if I realize I’ve gone in the wrong direction, I’ll go back to where I went astray, sometimes pages or a whole chapter, and then I’ll go back and make sure everything else points in that direction because if I don’t, I’ll forget. I am not a fast and messy drafter! 😅

I love this! Why are we always embarrassed to like something everyone else likes? It’s popular for a reason!

110

Rebecca Minelga - Add FALSE START on Goodreads! @rebeccaminelga.com · 10/09/2026

I loathe them, so none of my characters drink them. They’re all holding out for the Christmas drinks!

Rebecca Minelga - Add FALSE START on Goodreads! @rebeccaminelga.com · 10/09/2026

I almost always have the first and last scene in my head pretty early on. I really struggle with the muddy middle section - all the details that take us from here to there but can’t be boring just-doing-life scenes.

110

Rebecca Minelga - Add FALSE START on Goodreads! @rebeccaminelga.com · 10/09/2026

Yikes! I would 100% miss a detail and confuse my readers if I did this!

110

Rebecca Minelga - Add FALSE START on Goodreads! @rebeccaminelga.com · 10/09/2026

I’ve entirely cut multiple chapters and written new ones, but I write pretty clean for my first draft (I do a lot of editing as I go), so I tend not to make major changes by the time draft 1 is finished.

I live in the PNW, so my attitude definitely dips with the weather as the season progresses.

I love that we’re back into the school and activity schedule so I have set times I can count on to focus on writing. Summers are too chaotic schedule-wise to make much steady progress.

Finish a first draft by the end of September, then get it out to betas. I also have to submit my finalized anthology order by the end of the month.

Apropos of too many things lately, here's a spite poem I wrote a few weeks ago **makes unflinching eye contact while jamming more em dashes in** full disrespect to anyone writing with AI and also to the idea that we should change our voices and styles because the plagiarism machine is copying us

I will not cede my em dashes
I gathered them over countless afternoons in the languorous haze of foxing pages––breathing in the must of bygone times.

I unearthed them in a hundred many-branching conversations––no eye contact, just enthusiasm and did you know that rabbit trailing bliss.

I knelt at Emily Dickinson’s feet, and Emily Brontë’s, felt the press of punctuation against each shoulder––a knighting. A charge.

I will not cede them. I am oath-bound, sworn in fealty to complexity, to the broken, never-ending word. I must wield––.
