My stitch marker dealer (Heather, aka winemakerssister on Etsy) has subjected me to the mortifying ordeal of being known (added a free stitch marker to my order that’s just too darn perfect).
A stitch marker that’s a charm on a lever back clasp. The charm is a white dress with a pink bow at the waist, but the skirt of the dress is spattered with blood.

“Laundry Day” by @cozykathryn.com. Bring on the fall vibes. 🍂
A 4”x4” painting of two ghosts hung on a line like sheets. Their eyes are visible but otherwise they’re rectangles. The tres in the back are in full orange and yellow glory, the grass is green, and there’s a pumpkin at the bottom left corner. I’ve put the painting in a light wood frame and it’s on the edge of a woven table with green grass and trees behind it.

Hilarious, entertaining, and educational. A perfectly cromulent book. I immediately went and ordered more of Kean’s work.
Dinner with King Tut: How Rogue Archaeologists Are Re-Creating the Sights, Sounds, Smells, and Tastes of Lost Civilizations, by Sam Kean. The cover shows an Egyptian death mask, mouth open, as four disembodied hands reach toward it holding a fork, spoon, magnifying class, and hammer.

Cold Comfort by Rebecca Frost. The cover looks like a postcard image lodge at the edge of a lake, surrounded by tall pine trees. The postcard has been ripped and has been put back jaggedly, so the lodge is out of joint.

It the one year anniversary of my breast cancer surgery! I’m not back to the the “normal” that came before, and I might never be. Most days the new “normal” is okay. Today I think the new normal deserves some cake.
A white person with short hot pink hair sits in a hospital bed, wearing a hospital gown, and knits while waiting for surgery. There is a yellow rubber duck wearing a pink cancer ribbon pin on their knee.

I am very happy with this.
A triangular shawl knit from tip to large end, in rainbow strips separated by thin lines of eyelets in white. Each eyelet row has a large tassel in the color of the preceding stripe. In the photo the shawl is wrapped around a dressmaker’s dummy, posed outside against a background of trees and grass, and the colors totally pop in the sun.

A jar candle labeled Blank Pages (bergamot, camphor, oak moss, cedar, amber, and sandalwood) surrounded by various figurines: a black dragon lying on their belly, chin propped in their hands; a brass triceratops; a semi-translucent black stone spider; and a black raven.

I love sentences like this. Just a little piece of information to help set the scene. Not important in any way. Yes, Chernobyl happened in the wee hours of April 26th but shhh. Just information. No subtext.
End of the previous sentence unimportant.

Friday, April 25, was the last opportunity to take care of unfinished business before the holiday nude took over the entire city, making it difficult, if not impossible to get anything done before mid-May.

I found Jesus.
My white hand holding a small rubber chibi-esque figure of a likewise very white persona with brown hair and beard, arms spread, wearing a white robe and a red sash that says “God loves you.” There’s a yellow halo on the figure’s head. I am next to a car in a parking lot. Jesus might be a little dirty.

Nell gets an ARC of a book that’s supposed to be a tender tribute to a lost love, more of a memoir than fiction. Unfortunately she sees herself in it as the one who got away … from a serial killer she’s been hiding from ever since. Available on my blog or books2read.com/pending #QueerWritersChat

White arrows point to: secret identities; the one that got away; skeleton in the closet; unreliable narrator; found family; and cozy serial killer fiction. These surround the book cover. It shows the front of an apartment building in shades of blue with three rows of windows. All but two windows are dark. The middle top window has a lamp shining yellow on a silhouette as he writes something down. The middle right window is fully lit with a silhouette of a woman looking off toward the edge of the cover. Art by Amara Lynn.
