Early in the film, Fielder asks Holmes if she has chosen him to tell the story because he isn’t a science journalist, and it’ll be easier to get one over on him. She says she sees it as a human story. She feels she has been misunderstood. She isn’t the fraudster people — like me, I suppose — made her out to be. She wasn’t lying to anyone. She really believed in her invention. As she says this, she is wide-eyed, making eye contact with Fielder. Her face is placid, even peaceful. She appears to be fully convinced. [At one point, she insists she’s never told a lie at all, not once in her life.]

In 1989, working on a NeXT computer, British computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee invented something he called the World Wide Web: a potentially infinite array of linked documents on the internet. He was working at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, and designed the web for global CERN scientists to access one another's research.
It was such a good idea that on April 30, 1993, CERN released the web to the general global public. [A gold rush resulted. Investors poured money into anything with "com" in their names-whether or not they had profit or even a business plan.] Between 1995 and 2000, the tech-heavy Nasdaq index rose from 1,000 to over 5,000. Everyone was going to be rich.

Neocloud CoreWeave’s bonds are distressed, and so am I. The company’s unsecured debt due in 2032 is now trading below 80 cents on the dollar, Bloomberg reports. “Yikes” is right, Elon — if CoreWeave crumbles, other debt-laden neoclouds might be in trouble, too. CoreWeave is in many ways the poster child of the current AI buildout, which may have disastrous consequences if things don’t go as planned.
