Today's headlines aren't separate stories. Wildfires. Smoke. Cyclospora. Line 5. They're reminders that the health of our environment shapes the health of our communities. Clean air. Safe food. Fresh water. The science is clear. The solutions exist. Now we need the will to act.

If our Congresspeople don't stand up for the Great Lakes now, when will they? My point below is that Congressional support for the Great Lakes has to go well beyond the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and into supporting the basic functioning of government and our scientific community.
