We are back home and have exchanged beautiful views, serene silence and playful baby stoats in the garden for drunk people fighting in front of the pub down the road, council estate kids with face masks revving their stolen bikes and bedrooms that are too warm. *sigh* I’ll miss Wales…

I love our time here at the cottage, we’ll definitely come again. But we’ve been here 3 years ago, and it’s shocking how little the owners do for upkeep, given that they ask £1000 per week for this property. Broken sofas, cupboards, washing machine, bed frames, outdated internet.

It is 7:30 in a remote cottage in Wales. I have a 1-bar signal which allows me to read texts and Bluesky. There are no people other than us in at least a mile. The world is alright for once. I’ve missed this. I wish I could live here 😂

For someone who needs darkness to sleep, a hotel can be… a challenge xD wonderful blackout curtains combined with an AC LED that brightens the room enough to walk in it unaided, light leaking through the front door and a fire alarm that twinkles every 3 seconds. I counted. 🫠

So, I’m not the biggest walker. In fact, I hardly ever walk, and I may need a rollator to get myself out a bit more. Plus people are a bit much for me. So while my other half was exploring @chesterzoo.bsky.social today, I was hiding in a quiet corner and made some friends.

I have been working from home for the last year. I’m disabled, no other way to describe it anymore. I barely move throughout the day. We haven’t been on holiday in years due to a lack of funds. I have just been out for the first time in a year and my everything hurts 😅 Time for a rollator.

Luggage pretty much packed. Cat fed. Personal hygiene reasonably accomplished. Fresh towels folded. Oli is picking our house/cat sitter up in an hour, until then I’m trying to keep his ADHD in check. To do: Hoovering, bathroom cleaning, bed, laptops/chargers, buying driving snacks/breakfast 🥵

Getting ready for team building days in Chester from Thursday to Saturday. And then straight into two weeks of holiday, one of which is spent in Wales. I can’t wait to be back at Beudy Cefn. We couldn’t afford a holiday the last three years (really can’t, still), but I -need- it.
