The real estate broker that sold them the location: I've always said what I love most about Ridgewood is the community. It's a real neighborhood where people treat each other like neighbors. I'm disappointed to see people not upholding that standard, largely due to political differences.

I think that anyone who meets @geeenova and @beyenabella_1996 will know what I know. They are two hard working moms. A Ridgewood native and an immigrant who are pursuing their dream. Maybe SATC isn't your thing, but surely we could all agree that kindness never goes out of style.

Most insane post I've seen in a long time and it's incredibly local - essentially two ambulance chaser law marketers that run bus ads in my neighborhood opened a Sex and the City themed coffee shop in the old location of Norma's Corner Shoppe, a beloved cafe that shuttered 2 months ago, and now

"And I have to say, it started with Norma's. Truly, Norma's gentrified the entire neighborhood," Gloria Novakov (@geeenova) told us. She liked the changes in the neighborhood, where she has lived her entire life. "I'm very proud of the fact that the first Whole Foods is going to be in Ridgewood. I'm so excited for that," she told us.

She pictured the neighborhood of the future that it would bring: "It's Whole Foods, then it's Equinox, and then it's Carrie's."

Novakov was opening the spot with Bahareh Parker (@beyenabella_1996) her longtime business partner. The two run a legal advertising outfit targeted at people who are hit by cars called @abogados1800cantaso but this is their first time opening a restaurant.

The cafe is an unofficial tribute, they told us, to the character of Carrie Bradshaw. They have given the sandwiches, which they get from an outside vendor, names like "Mr. Big," the "Hot Italian Affair" and "Carrie's Cheat Day." They all run for between $12 and $14.

Reception from the neighborhood's community of transplants, who largely frequented Norma's, has been mixed. Some noticed that Novakov appeared to have supported Andrew Cuomo's failed mayoral run and, it appeared, the current Trump administration, per an Instagram post Novakov later deleted. "#GreatMenComeFromQueens @andrewcuomo @realdonaldtrump," Novakov wrote. Parker later told us she and Novakov have "different political views but we never let

that come between us."

"No presumably hip transplant in Ridgewood likes maximalist, themed, tacky cursive chalkboard aesthetics, let alone themes from an almost 30-year-old show whose protagonist is consistently dunked on by this same demographic," one reader in Ridgewood wrote us.

"The hate against Carrie's is implicitly pro-gentrification," wrote in a different transplant, who settled in nearby "East" Bushwick.
