When Seth Rogen made his TMNT movie, he was restricted to a PG rating because Ninja Turtles is an IP enjoyed by everyone. The result was a hilarious and great movie with subtle sex jokes (The mega milker machine) that would've probably been more blatant had the movie been allowed an R rating

I notice with R-Rated media, they tend to rely a bit on the shock value of the heavy subject matter without fully having substance behind it. Compare it to a more PG story where they're forced to be subtle about it. The subtlety works great and it makes you feel smart for picking up on the signs

My hot take of the day: Sometimes, being restricted to a PG rating with your story can actually be a good thing because it forces you to get creative and be subtle with how you tackle certain ideas and subject matter

I always find it amusing whenever people talk about the Starboy concept for “Wish” because they ALWAYS leave out the paragraph mentioning that they were planning for him to be a younger representation of Asha’s grandfather Makes all those “Asha x Starboy” stories look weird now, doesn’t it?

I think one of the worst things about the existence of brainrot is the fact it’s hard to see people nowadays be into media that’s more subtle with both its humor and messages Like, everything nowadays needs to be super flashy visuals and constant snapping to keep your attention

That "I did not care for The Godfather" scene from Family Guy perfectly encapsulates media consumption as a whole, bc it shows that even if something is objectively good, not everyone will vibe with it, but instead of saying "this was bad" you say "didnt care for it" and saying that doesnt judge the quality of that piece of media

Comparing Saints Row and GTA is understandable because both are open world crime sandbox games with driving and gang violence Comparing Raya and the Last Dragon and Encanto is stupid because the only thing they really have in common is being Disney movies released in 2021

Ya know something that bothers me? People who compare two pieces of media that have practically NOTHING in common besides from like one thing There are times where your enjoyment of one thing over the other really just comes down to personal preference what intrigues you more

A massive pet peeve of mine with social media is whenever a piece of media has a genuinely powerful and positive message that greatly shows how people can improve for both themselves and the world around them Only for it to either being completely ignored or HEAVILY misinterpreted

My boyfriend cried while watching "Inside Out", One of my friends cried while watching "Nimona", I always tear up listening to Linkin Park's "One More Light". It doesn't matter what media it is. If it can have that connection with another person, then it has succeeded as a work of art

0244

🔞🐁Alex the Mouse🐁 🔞 @realalexmouse.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

I'm just saying. There is NOTHING wrong with crying while watching a movie, show or video game. The whole point of art is the make you feel various emotions, including sadness. If a piece of media can make you cry then that simply means it did it's job as a work of art

Morgan made a phenomenal post about the whole thing explaining that they felt the attachment because they personally knew someone who went through something similar to Angel Dust, which is why they felt the heavy emotions they did

1253

🔞🐁Alex the Mouse🐁 🔞 @realalexmouse.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

The people bullying Morgan Terry for THEIR (Morgan goes by They/them, stop misgendering them you fucks) reaction don't understand their perspective or why they reacted the way they did The scene in question is a character (That they have attachment to) being assaulted in an abusive relationship

1232

🔞🐁Alex the Mouse🐁 🔞 @realalexmouse.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

I'd say it was at it's worse with the whole "No Angel, don't blame yourself" meme. It is NOT funny in the slightest and it's essentially people bullying a neurodivergent person for showing heavy emotions to an intense scene in their special interest show. It's disgusting that this meme even blew up

1293

🔞🐁Alex the Mouse🐁 🔞 @realalexmouse.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

People have gotten way too casually with bullying others (especially people on the spectrum) for getting emotional or straight up crying while watching a piece of media, ESPECIALLY if the media is a punching back for internet people It's so irritating and it NEEDS to stop
