iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Apologies if the image quality is terrible for phone users— I can only use an iPad to post here for now. If so, oh well. Bipedal opabinia-lookin’ thing is still enjoyable to draw and I wanted to share somehow.

Longtime no post— here’s a WIP drawing of a predatory alien creature, including some underlying anatomical musings. The design is mostly the same as before, just a few tweaks that felt right to me. #alien #creaturedesign #specbio #speculativebiology #speculativeevolution #specevo #digitalart

A rough anatomical drawing outlining main organ systems & structures. Spiral-shaped “book lungs” and a central nerve cord that runs along the belly (not the back) are some of their more unique features.

outline drawing of a bipedal but three-limbed alien creature. They use their pincer-tipped singular front limb to snatch up smaller prey, and tear into both carcasses and even some “plant” materials. The actual mouth, a small but powerful beak located just behind this front appendage, can then gnaw away :)

I’m glad it looks cool! Yeahhh, a personal spec evo project to explore alien body plans I otherwise wouldn’t get to draw! I may not have an organized presentation at this stage, but I’m fine with just establishing & posting the designs with some explanations to start.

The feather-bangs on the draft bird, oml, I must pet… (even if it’s the last thing I do. Hopefully they are gentle giants when not working like some horses are)

Epic 🔥 The hatching and cross hatching lines really add something nice to it. Would love to see more of their world!

Your work is so cool! Love the art style and unique body plans & designs! It is indeed more challenging to make creatures all adhere to a consistent body plan while still showing reasonable variation… I have been trying it myself lately, so I respect this aspect of your work!

#sketch #traditionalart #inktober #belatedinktober Interpretation I did for "Trunk" during Ink25, starting with the idea of a Mammoth, then a Mecha-Elephant, and stripping that down to the barest essential of a mechanical trunk on legs. World-building in alt-text

The incinerator sparked and fumed as it digested more debris, ravenous for another bite provided by an ever-feeding proboscis. Sometimes metal, often-times loose soil, and, on occasion, those long (or freshly) dead on the battlefield. At this juncture, nobody knows what the original purpose is behind these stalking, janitorial maws. Just that they're ever-starving, ever-seeking, and must be evaded whenever possible.

Damn, I love this drawing and the concept behind it. A monstrous mecha-proboscidean is such an epic idea and you did it justice!

More variations, specializations, and explanations of this body plan will be shared down the road. They’ve been conceptualized and mostly drawn, just need some finalizations.

Ready parakeet @readyparakeet.bsky.social · 05/02/2026

After months of iterating, I finally feel committed to this body plan. They changed from weird “trident” hexapods, then to pentapods, then finally to tripods. While challenging, I’m glad I pursued a limb count less than 4– it lead to designs that feel much more “my own”.

Ready parakeet @readyparakeet.bsky.social · 05/02/2026

a rare art update from me. Still a WIP, but I’m now happier with the body plan of these alien creatures. They are native to Ona, a fictional planet I introduced in a post a few months back. (Continued in comments & alt text) #specbio #specevo #creaturedesign #alien #speculativeevolution #procreate

Work-in-progress drawing of a predatory, bipedal species. The central anterior limb or pre-oral limb is adapted into a raptorial appendage, for snagging prey and otherwise foraging (more details to come with the finished drawings)

I was almost in tears while at work today (it’s been a week), then an elderly patient called and talked to me over the phone about random things for like 20 minutes lol. Normally problematic, but it saved me today by resetting my brain. Thank you, random old guy ✨🫶

I've been drawing #dogs lately, not for any special project but because domestication is fascinating and I like to see diverse things all lined up pretty in the same pose c-: #digitalart

All dogs face to the left in a static standing pose in a flat stylized way. This is a Bedlington terrier, which has thick fur on the face and bottoms of the legs, and thinner shaved fur on the torso, neck and tail. It has fur pompoms on its floppy ears, and a small dark eye on its egg-shaped head

This is a Border terrier, a small tannish dog with a large head, strong chest, and straight tail. It has wiry fur and a dark beard on its face. Its ears are half-flopped over.

This is a bull terrier. It is an all-white dog with an egg-shaped head, stocky body, and a long thin tail. Its fur is very short, and it has small eyes.

This is an Airedale terrier. It is a tall dog with wiry fur in blacks and browns. It has half-floppy ears and a short curled tail. It has longer fur on the legs and face.

having niche interests is funny cuz most people I’ve met wouldn’t get excited over discovering a new Greek prefix (for taxonomic naming), but I sure do. Like yuss, I can now give a fictional clade of fictional creatures the perfect descriptive name 🎉 👏

Today is my birthday. I've seen some of these posts that ask people to share some of their work around their birthdays and I thought of just doing the same since I don't have much to do on this platform atm. So if you can, idk, have some engagement in the meantime and repost this somewhere.

A scene in which a highly reflective, glowing capsule-shaped spacecraft is spotted from a larger space station in space. There are no stars visible due to the way the “camera” would be exposed. The main subject in question - a non-humanoid alien dragon wearing a spacesuit, holds on to a support bar with some tethering back to the main station.

A set of alien ruins located on a frozen world (the "most distant" planet located in the Sol system), with building structures being laid with frozen ice, some of it has also collapsed due to accumulated permafrost and ice over the years. There's liquid on the surface of this world, but it is not water but something similar to liquid methane (sort of like the one in Titan). Despite it being in daylight, the sun is distant (yet visible) enough that it does not receive the light that the atmosphere receives that it is perceived as part of an eternal night, surrounded by clouds. Almost blocking it is the planet's largest moon.

An upright sophont gorgonopsian (or gorgonopsid; a synapsid/mammal-like reptile with saber teeth) with a headphone and microphone speaks in a lecture demonstrating ecological collapse in Permian Earth (shown with the continent of Pangea) from their own causes, which is projected at the back of the large lecture room of a theatre.

An image in which a blue orb resembling a pulsar star rips through the image and segmenting it into a cross-section of four separate scenes. The scene depicts three different aliens going through the same experience - of the Founders’ remnants (an ancient race of extinct aliens older than them)

That’s awful behavior… I can relate to feeling insecure about my artwork sometimes, but if I come across someone younger and more skilled than me, it’s best to just compliment their work and move on lol. Comparison is the thief of joy anyway.

some silly sketches of an amphibious inchworm-like “fish”. probably an alien creature... more info in alt text #specevo #creaturedesign #sketch #procreate

a fictional creature with only 2 true limbs, but with the help of proleg-like appendages on the tail & specialized skin secretions, it can grip tree branches and other substrates with ease. Cephalic arms have broadened somewhat to help with this too; in addition to their usual sensory and manipulation purposes. (somewhat inspired by tree-climbing mudskippers, I really wanted to try drawing prolegs on a “vertebrate”-type animal of a similar lifestyle)

Ready parakeet @readyparakeet.bsky.social · 23/09/2025

(repost to fix a typo) I tried my hand at painting a fictional planet named Ona, where some of my spec evo creatures live (alt text has more introductory details) I’m pleased with the stylized look 🌌✨ #planetart #spaceart #alienworld #specevo #exoplanet #planet #digitalart #procreate

A first glimpse of Ona. An extrasolar world veiled by dense swirling clouds and tinted blue-green by photosynthetic lifeforms— it has a familiar and inviting aura. However, closer inspection may reveal unique lineages of life that only converge with Terran lifeforms where physics and chemistry demand.

The lesser axial tilt of Ona results in little to no seasonal variation. While this world’s climates are more consistent than many on Earth, they are hardly more tame.
Ona has large and unforgiving ice sheets. The lack of a significant spring-winter cycle turns the northern landscape into a frozen waste, in which few plant and animal analogues can survive. Harsh desert expanses are another result of a less tilted world, pushing life that dwells here to their biological limits. These extreme climate zones reduce overall biomass, but encourage specialization among the species that do live here.

However, Ona is far from truly desolate planet. A haven of bustling teal forests and coppery savannas appear to thrive toward the equator. Ona’s vast blue seas cannot be overlooked either, likely serving as home to even more enigmatic lifeforms than the land can support.
