this album means SO MUCH TO ME that I Iiterally was not able to listen to it for years until I got to a bit of a better state. still almost crying listening to it. I don’t know why but in 2012-13 when I was alone in Japan these songs by Bill Callahan helped me a lot.

I wrote a review for @weirdwalk.bsky.social book on Weird Walk and I think it is a start of my stonepunk phase. jokes aside, I was very happy to find it and I think more people need to know about the book and its message dimitryrakin.com/2026/09/11/b...

also, can we restart an eternal question discussion on “the best nick cave album”? after listening to the bad seeds for like 25 years I am ready to cast my vote for Henry’s Dream. I think it is the quintessence of their classic dark soul / post-punk with just the right amount of debauchery and fun.

I love reddit so much
comment says “Oil and gas have mystery origins, at least for now. Scientists really don't know mechanism of it's creation. Maybe some of the Hollow Earth theories can explain it? Like for example, hollow Earth people are producing it and exchange it to governments for slaves. I'm know a little about hollow earth theories, it is just an example of form of explanation.”

the irony of it with the heavy snow exactly on the day of elections is unbelievable. this is the current status of major JR lines in east Honshu.

I am starting to see here first angry comments from people from europe that all americans are responsible for what’s happening and how americans are responding that they personally did not vote for trump and are suffering as well. well, what can I say?

tell me you read this and DON’T think about Edmund Fitzgerald. I cannot believe Pynchon put a reference to the song in Shadow Ticket. somehow there are always all sorts of coincedence and parrallels that resonate with you very specifically when you read Pynchon.
lengthy passage from Pynchon’s latest novel that includes reference to “November gales” in the Great Lakes region, Chippewa and other key words from the song Edmund Fitzgerald

this music is amazing. while we’re waiting for new songs from Lankum and Landless, they gathered together in a band Poor Creatire and did something similar and yet different and it might be my candidate for the best of 2025, though I know the polls have closed long ago. heavily recommending

what a paragraph. I’ve been thinking about the idea of non-linear experience of time just recenty and this is a really precise definition of a similar concept from J G Ballard. www.jgballard.ca/non_fiction/...
All my own fiction could be regarded as an attempt to escape from time -- or, more exactly, from linear time, as it seems to me that time is quantifiable and non-linear in far more aspects, and that the most significant relationships and experiences of our lives are intelligible only in non-linear terms. (If this seems doubtful, pause for a moment and examine the goulash of ideas, images, activities, relationships and dreams that make up your own life -- how many of them make sense in linear terms, how adequately would a framework such as Pride and Prejudice or The Magic Mountain, to take two examples at random, represent the texture of your own consciousness and behaviour? Far less adequately, I would guess, than a framework such as that of "You and Me and the Continuum" or "The Atrocity Exhibition." This is no comparison of literary merit, I hasten to add.)

I am fascinated by this weird mushroom structure that I discovered in a hotel that looked long dead, but was still operational. You lose any sense of time and place here. True onsenpunk experience.
Giant concrete mushroom-looking structure in an outdoor hot spring bath. Everything is surrounded with deep green. Top of the “mushroom” is home to an ecosystem of moss, grass and lichen.Mushroom-looking structure looms over hot spring water while the trees and grass are capturing back the concrete building of the hotel.Silver water of the hot spring contrasts with the polished column of the mushroom structure.
