In 1941, the Royal Canadian Air Force Women's Division was established. During the Second World War, 17,000 enlisted to serve with it, and 30 lost their lives in active service. This is the story of the women of that service. 🧵 1/10

In Canada, August 9 is commemorated as National Peacekeepers’ Day. We remember all Canadian peacekeepers, past and present. On August 9 1974 nine Canadian peacekeepers were killed when their aircraft was shot down in Syria. They are the Buffalo Nine. Learn about them here: youtu.be/Ka4x6lG4kf8

#OTD in 1953, the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed. This agreement created a ceasefire on the Korean peninsula and established the border between North and South Korea. Today we remember the members of the Canadian Armed Forces who fought in the Korean War including the members of the RCAF.
