Always great to get back to SLAC SSRL and great team there. Hard to believe 20 years since we 1st did pioneering X-Ray Fluorescence imaging of Archimedes Palimpsest with Will Noel & Uwe Bergmann. This set the stage for continued XRF cultural heritage studies of manuscripts, printed works & fossils.

We are extremely saddened to hear that Will Noel passed away yesterday. He was a pioneer in the field of digital manuscript studies, a relentless advocate of open access and friend and colleague to many in the digital medievalist community. He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with his family.
