Ha ha I also love those types of characters. I even allowed for plausible deniability by making a plot excuse to turn on the sprinklers when one of them might have cried.

boycott it so your trans friends don’t get a sick feeling in their stomach when they come over to your house for a party & see a stack of HP merch on your bookshelf, politely excuse themselves a bit early without saying anything, and then go home feeling just a little degraded

My delulu version of how I would fix the 4th movie/make it more #myhole, the comic book/sequel hook bit.

And then we can have Madoka walking back to the Law of Cycles. Most things can happen the same except - see the thing is, when Homura made her wish. she alwavs wanted to protect Madoka as a human or as a magical girl. She offered to protect Madoka as a Witch. but Madoka said no. But maybe this entire thing proves that she needs to protect the Law of Cvcles. or at least have the magic required to challenge it.

But that means giving up being a magical girl/on Earth.

Sayaka pep talk optional - I think it would be a good capstone to the point that while the current situation is neither Homura or Madoka's problem. Homura is the only one who can follow Madoka to fix it.

So we can still have Homura turn into an energy being to follow Madoka to the Law of Cycles. Cut off here for all I care, or keep the curb stomping. Just make it clear that it's a one way street to be like Madoka in terms of existing on Earth.

And onlv then does it make sense for Madoka to repeat what Homura said to her in Episode 1???? "Do you value your life? Do you think that your family and friends are important to you?"

It's fully optional whether Homura does get returned to Earth in the same way as the movie's ending, so long as the possibility of the original concept movie, the value of humanity, is left open to be explored!

Anyways, that's my delulu version, for the record. Maybe you have a better delulu version.

My delulu version of how I would fix the 4th movie/make it more #myhole, the Homura gets to be cool and Madoka gets some agency part.

Homura - Bear with me, this wanders very much into my personal preferences, because there are many spin off points depending on how early you want Homura to die, and how much of movie events you want to keep.

This treatment goes for the option of delaying Homura's "death" for as long as possible, and keeping most of the movie content (while adding a ton more runtime).

So. Homura removes Madoka's ribbons in a reverse of the end of Rebellion. Except it doesn't work. because now Madoka can remember her own grief and she's gonna Witch about it.

But Homura already pulled Madoka from the Law of Cycles, you think she can't pull her from her Witch? She does, and we get new magical girl outfit Madoka. Hell, we can even give Madoka some agency to fight her own Witch together with the others.
