A favorite of Friday night at BLINK Cincinnati 2026. Original audio from the installation (I stood next to the speakers, y’all). I loved so many that animated existing murals! This is THE LETTER FROM MARTHA By Decidekit, 1001 Colors, John Ruthven (the original mural artist)

Did you know that the Yavapai people have long held the belief that once something emerges from the bottom of this Well, it cannot go back, and that scientists today cannot explain why that is true!

You cannot look at this site without realizing how extraordinary and well preserved these cliff dwellings are. The builders (now referred to as the Sinagua people) began this permanent structure around 1050 CE in the modern-day Verde Valley in Arizona (Between Sedona and Phoenix).

These bluffs and badlands are remnants of volcanic activity along the North Platte River in what is now Western Nebraska. First Nations people and animals carved the routes later used by wagons long before recorded history.

If I told you this passage in Nebraska was once so heavily traveled by California and Oregon Trail wagon trains that its history still applies today as a cautionary tale about conservation and stewardship, would you visit? In June 2022, I finally had the opportunity to see Scott’s Bluff in person.

Let’s talk Accessibility in National Parks! First, I’ve never been to a park where the drive-thru wasn’t worth it. Never. Especially parks with roads cut by the WPA Civilian Conservation Corps back in the 1930’s and 1940’s. They knew how to feature the stunning scenery that you’d come to see.

Whenever I’m asked to recommend a National Park that blew me away, but most people wouldn’t know to visit, I say PINNACLES and I’m gonna tell you why. PINNACLES was established as a National Park in 2013. It consistently makes the list of least visited parks in the system. Why I have no idea.

What we should all be agreeing upon is that we’re all connected. If we’re not on fire, then we’re breathing the smoke. The fire closest to us right now is over 9,000 acres, started by a lightning strike. It’s not Nature’s fault that we’re trying to live here.

In 1887, James and Kate Cook established Agate Springs Ranch, and its history would be shaped by a fascinating mix of paleontologists and Lakota and Cheyenne visitors.

This whole place is a microcosm of the history of Modern Paleontology, which was only getting started in the late 1800’s. Places like Agate were invaluable early finds, shared by several institutions working their own sites concurrently in the early 1900’s.

Zion National Park, specifically hiking Kayenta to the Pools to the Court of the Patriarchs. I was back in Zion this June. I’ve done previous videos on the park (go back and watch those). It was Whitney’s first time there, so we were hitting shorter hikes to see more of the park.

I saw a metal thing on display in Manitowoc, Wisc., and thought it was a bomb. Turns out it’s a K-ball roaster. For 100 years it was used by a company called Briess Industries to roast malt for beer and food. The company this year is celebrating its 150th. Raise a glass of a beer with some color.
K-ball roaster on display in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, for Briess Industries’ 150th anniversary.Briess K-ball roaster marker in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. It reads:

Celebrating its 150th Anniversary in 2026, BRIESS honors a heritage of malting excellence as a 5th generation family-owned company. One of the most transformative chapters began in Chilton, Wisconsin, in 1953. That year marked the installation of K-Ball roasters, manufactured by G.W. Barth, which propelled BRIESS into the forefront of caramel and dark roasted malt production. With a skilled team of maltsters overseeing these iconic rotating spheres, and each batch yielding 600 pounds of flavorful malt, BRIESS refined its craftsmanship, tripling domestic and export shipments by the 1960s.
K-Ball roasters remained in use until being replaced by modern drum roasters in 1978. By that time, they had laid the foundation for BRIESS to be recognized as the global leader in roasted malts for food and craft beer. These K-Balls stand as enduring symbols of BRIESS' quality, service, and innovation.Briess Industries silo and plant in Manitowoc, Wisconsin
