I loved making my own internal BlueRetro mods for my Dreamcast and SNES. What a fun project. I’m sure others will continue to refine and expand it, but I think you are leaving it in a great place. It’s insanely feature complete and polished.

One more tip is that the Palma is almost exactly the same dimensions as the older 6.7” iPhones like the 15 Pro Max, so a lot of sleeve or bag style cases for that phone will fit, if you don’t keep a case on it.

I just bought a Palma 2 (really only different in that it has fingerprint unlock and costs more lol) and it’s been pretty great for manga.

Nice. I can’t quite justify the price for my SE but these are awesome. I wish I could grab one to go with my prison TV, soundsticks, and clear(ish) Super Famicom

Finally finished my rewatch of seasons 1 and 2 of Kimi ni Todoke, and watched the new (!) season 3, and man, it's nice to have something NICE. It was the anime that made me fall in love with shojo when I watched it over 10 years ago, and getting a new season after so long was such a gift.
Promotional visual for season 3 of the Kimi ni Todoke anime. All of the main characters are wearing their high school uniforms, walking in cool blue water on the beach. Kazehaya and Sawako are holding hands while the rest of the cast walk behind. Logo text is in Japanese.

God I love when they put this shit right on the Steam Page. Wishlisted, and I can't wait.
At the top of the About this Game section in the steam page is a box saying "STANDARD RUNTIME: 120-180 minutes"

Apropos of nothing, I've been watching "From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad's Been Reincarnated!" and it's one of the funniest and most adorable anime I've seen in a while. A 52 year old salary-man dies and is reincarnated as the villainess of an otome game, and just completely rolls with it.

This old monitor has the most ominous sounding power on degauss noise I’ve ever heard. Sound/headphones on.

I’ve always wanted to use this vintage Power Center with my retro computing setup but the 40 year old neon bulbs in the switches had developed an annoying flicker. Someone on Reddit recently posted a replacement part number, so I guess I’m about to become a power strip hobbyist.

I don’t know how under appreciated it is but I think Tokyo Godfathers is the perfect Christmas movie. On Christmas Eve, three homeless people (an alcoholic, a trans woman, and a teenage runaway) find a baby in the trash and set out to find her parents. A modern day manger story. Funny and moving.

It’s kind of wild that if you want a device to stream 4K HDR PC games from your PC to your TV, the absolute best AND cheapest option is the $150 Apple TV 4K with Moonlight.
A pretty crappy photo of my LG OLED showing the Moonlight app running and streaming the steam interface on my Apple TV.

FYI I’ve added an SSD, 16gb of 3200mhz ram, and installed Bazzite, and the performance is much improved. 2D indies and some low end 3D play great without blasting the fan. Haven’t pushed it much further than that yet. Liking it for emulation and retro style games.

I had told myself that I would NOT buy another handheld emulator console. I do NOT need it. But there was a sale, and look, this thing is exactly like a Gameboy Advance SP, and it can even sleep automatically when you shut the lid.

After my brief experiment with daily driving a vintage Thinkpad, I picked up this wireless trackpoint keyboard. It’s super weird to use! Feels like half a laptop. But it’s surprisingly convenient to have a full keyboard and “mouse” that is so easy to grab and use via Bluetooth or USB.

This is so neat. The ports on the Framework laptop are all modular, and there are lots of community designed ones. I just got this, the DongleHider+, which lets you solder in up to two disassembled usb dongles internally while still having an external USB-A port. I’m using it for my mouse receiver.
A shot of the dongle hider module opened to see the mouse receiver PCB soldered onto the module PCBA side shot showing the external USB-A mod port on the laptop. The module is flush and apart from a slight difference in color you can’t tell that it’s any different from the laptops other ports.A shot showing the bottom of the laptop. Here you can tell that the module is not one of the stock ones because it’s made out of 3-D printed slightly translucent plastic instead of gray aluminum

@play.date like this is literally true. Here I am grabbing my playdate (last played a month ago) and my 3DS (last played at least 9 months ago). 3DS is at full battery, playdate might as well be DOA.

Today it’s Double D-pads. This is an 8Bitdo Lite. I picked it up on sale a couple months ago and it’s turned out to be a great controller. Feels a little bit retro in size/shape but with all the buttons of a modern controller, and it fits in the pocket of my laptop bag.

Really glad to see more retro gaming folks showing up here. I’m going to try to start posting here more often about my retro tech projects. Here’s the latest on my clear CRT setup. I paired it up with some Soundsticks III, which sound and look great. They’re shielded and CRT safe!
