Well, well, how unpleasant! Maybe you'd be happier if you moved to Trumpland?

I glanced at your material. All very familiar, thanks. Canada and the USA have been deeply entwined for many years. A complete break away in a few months, would do more damage than Trump ever could. Please quit moaning from the sidelines, support the only chance we have to fend off Trump.

Trump is extremely dangerous. We are lucky to have Carney working to keep Canada from being sucked into the nightmare that the USA has become.

Mystified. Trump is biggest, baddest boogeyman around. We agree? What 'worked' with me? Who is 'he'?

The editorial encourages reflection on how far we have travelled from seeing the oil sands as a problem to be contained. The journey was not driven by the oil lobby, or anyone else in Canada. Mr. D.J. Trump did the pushing.

The Mayors should ban ICE from their towns. The Canadians might then consider visiting. Did any one of these pleading Mayors mention anything they are doing to restore sanity and dignity?

Of course fish feel pain. How could anyone doubt it? Recreational fishing would be nothing but a tedious bore, otherwise and no-one would spend hours doing it.

The elderly gent in the middle bottom looks like he could be intriguing. Then I noticed that he is holding aloft some sort of primitive revolver, his finger around the trigger although the gun is not cocked - not going to get far like that!

An enormous data center would be required for AI to achieve self consciousness. Given the plunging social license for large data centers, it seems unlikely. 2/2 www.weforum.org/stories/arti...

Why AI and data-centre growth risks stalling without a social licence to operate
Amid concern about the social and environmental impact of AI, getting local communities on-side could become a potential constraint on the technology's growth.

If you could see inside a LLM, it would look like this. The neural net that implements a LLM is actually a digital simulation of a 1960s analog computer of incredible size.

AI cannot be trusted for ANY task. It is especially unreliable for maps. I asked for a map of Morocco and Casablanca ended up in the middle of the Atlantic. Here is an even worse example generated by OpenAI. No one who hopes to keep their job should be using or investing in AI. It is sloppy.

Yes. That is the stereotypical actions of a mother to protect her child. Beneficial when the child is young, disastrous when adult. What sort of actions do you equate with maternal instincts? Do you want our new benevolant AI overlords to treat us like that?

Hinton is famous for warning that AI is an existential threat to humanity. "Worst-case in 20 or 30 years" But it is already happening! Ireland hosts over 120 data centers, primarily clustered around Dublin. These facilities consume over 20% of the nation's electricity.
