Today I was interviewed by a high school student who is including me in her book about women's leadership. I shared with her that even the women she admires are still figuring it out. I told her that even I am still learning and figuring things out. She said WHAT? I said yes! And it's okay.

Had a job interview for a science communications role. The recruiter said "Wow, you've achieved so much on your own, why would you want to work here?" I could tell right then I wasn't getting the job. I love working on teams and collaborating. My own success doesn't make me too good for that.

Any org would be so lucky to have Dr. Raven. I wish I had been exposed to science communicators like her when I was in school; I might have cared about science. As it was, all I saw was men taking dryly about science and I never got into it. Please hire her if you are in a capacity to do so.

Both of my mentees got into their dream PhD programs. Both in biology, one at Stanford and the other at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Being a mentor is so rewarding.
