My favorite kinds of plants are aquatic. If I hadn't gone to school for physics, I probably would've went for botany. Now that things have settled down in my life, I think I might just keep and study them as a hobby, documenting them and trying different things.

Why is it that I always experience power outages during the evening and never the daytime? My baked chicken was only 7 minutes in. Also, why does my oven need electricity to work when it’s gas powered and already lit?

I've decided to relearn/learn Japanese. I've forgotten so much since I don't really use it. I'd like to eventually read the news and older classics. The first step is vocabulary. It'll mostly be memorizing Kanji and common examples. I've tried the Heisig method before, but I didn't care for it.

I started a new My Anime List because it's been forever since I made the other one and forgot all of my login info. Imagine starting a new one in the year of our lord twentytwentytwentysix with decades of watched anime baggage and a completionist attitude, ha ha.....ha....haaaa.

Laminar fractal patterns dance like ghosts on the walls as the headlights of passing cars shine through my rain-soaked windows. A car makes a turn. A gradual flood of light exorcises the spirits before fading. The chiaroscuro of my room restores while I sit here. I should probably go do something.

Sometimes I reflect on the things that have happened in my life and think "wow. that was crazy". Not in a bad way, mind you. It's just being at the right place at the right time, I suppose.

Alabaster, through and through. Traced in charcoal and accented in the reddish-pink of shortened breaths. Crowned in the watercolors of fountains, spilling down, with streams of aquas into the purples of the dusk sky. Frozen in time. Just out of reach of the fields of fragrant clover.

Sitting here, the grass smells of snakes. I sketch the sounds a brook makes. While slung, the setting sun half-way in the arms of the earth, retreats from the day.

I say we give the rich as much money as they want...and also their own currency and economy. Then we set up an exchange rate based on their wealth for normal economy interactions. "Oh, you want a loaf of bread? *checks list of names* That'll be 400,000 richie-rich dollars."

I don't know if it's midlife crisis or whatever, but i realized something, today--that I have a new life motto and it is: "Always the bare minimum". If I do the bare minimum consistently, the minimum effort will compound into something immaculate.

Alright. Hear me out... In a couple of instances, the president looks exactly like the weird demon-rabite thing from Pieter Bruegel's "The Fall of the Rebel Angels".

Do you actually like that game or do you not want to be left out of the hype surrounding it? Will you come back to that game in a couple of years to play it again? Will you be able to? Will you have to buy it again on a new console that was just released in order to do so?

This is not surprising. You can already see the algorithmic autophagy here on bluesky. The discover feed is filled with bots liking bot posts for engagement. I'm here for the "Multiplicity" copy of a copy degradation. AI making content for other AI to like and make content based off of it.

Bots Surpass Humans in Global Web Traffic for the First Time in Internet History
For the first time ever, automated bots have officially overtaken human users in global internet traffic, and the shift is accelerating faster than even industry leaders predicted.

So I've been watching the anime "The Daily Life of a Middle-Aged Shopper In Another World" and realized I completely identify with protag. It starts off with a hyper condensed origin story set to "Also Sprach Zarathustra".

I have a ton of burner email accounts (as one does). I have a specific one based off the anime Lucky Star (I recommend watching the show if you haven't seen it) that I give to people to make the interaction as awkward as possible.

My job often asks of me: “Does this thing store information” and “Can you retrieve any information it used to store”. These questions were asked today in regard to a spectrophotometer.
A spectrophotometer.

I am super surprised. Cachyos + niri + noctalia doesn't completely suck. I still hate every operating system, equally, but hey--I can pair bluetooth earphones, customize the ui without learning a separate programming language, AND not have to install every package based off of my computer specs.

I'm tired, it's 4:30am, and yet here I am--listening to the loud-ass birds outside, start their day. "Good morning you deadbeats". They're like those productivity influencers that wake up early to go jogging with separate, complete, jogging attires.

Praise be to the algorithm: some digital, alchemical, formula modelling of human interaction that reduces it to it's fundamental level--that which is devoid of any humanity.

You know what the best thing is to watch on TV these day? Nothing. It's all conglomerated trash. Not a "hot take", i know. It's the same with any type of media. It's what can generate the most revenue. Social, visual, aural--it doesn't matter if it's liked, only if it's put in front of you.

A lot of people seem to like the Rust programming language. I don't really know too much about it, but the syntax looks kinda cumbersome. I also don't like how variables are immutable by default. They're variables. They should vary. It's in the name.

Some questions for my new account, let's go: "Password?" password. "City you were born in?" password, Illinois. "Mother's maiden name?" password. I think it's Dutch or something. "First pet's name?" password. He was a good dog. "Childhood nickname?" Sean Connery voice: We named the dog password.

You think it's the massive tech layoffs, being forced to use AI when coding, or the warm milk the corporate sector gives you before they tuck you in and give you a little kiss on the forehead after another bad decision. IT'S ALMOST LIKE SHITTIER CODE IS BEING PRODUCED THESE DAYS, FOR SOME REASON.

This site should allow a rule list uploads for filtering content. I'm pretty sure I can get about 98% of politics off of my feed if I could this. It still won't help to get rid of all the weird fetish AI bot art (THANKS BLUESKY), but I feel at least the politics would become manageable.

I had to switch to another linux distro, today at work, because canonical was getting DDoSed or whatever. And because I hate every operating system equally, I ended up picking fedora at random. While on their site, I was clicking random links and found one of the best things: An anti AI-scraper.

I feel like I'm the only person who likes desert areas in video games. Like, give me windy sand dunes with oasis villages and I'm good. I feel like all I see is either Medieval, old-world European village, or Victorian architecture these days in fantasy games.

A dilemma that I'm unexpectedly faced with more often that I thought I'd be: making dinner at 11:22pm, or just going to bed and eating breakfast the next day.

I think I'm in the rare camp of linux users where I like semi-customizable distros. Like, I don't want a tiling window manager because I don't want to have to set dark mode for the window border of every program that uses one or have to add a wallpaper with a line of code in a dotfile.

Linux installations are wild. I can install something like Ubuntu one day, install something else the next, then when I reinstall the same Ubuntu it crashes due to memory for some reason.

Due to a busy work-week, I can't have my hot water tank replaced until at least Saturday. I had to buy a cap for the water supply to the tank because no one installed a supply shut-off valve. It'll be cold showers for at least this week. Man. I am not looking forward to that.

It's getting harder for me to find a particular sound or ambiance in types of music. I don't think what I want are established genres, so when searching I get something completely different. I have to start making the types of songs I want to listen to just to have something.

I bought a new diatonic harmonica and on the box it says that the key in the 2nd position is the 4th rather than the 5th. Second position is 2 draw--a 5th and the dominant of the key of the harp. It is the go-to position for blues. Did I miss something in my 20+ years playing harmonica, Hohner?

I have been obsessed with Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20, 1st movement, lately. The weaving between the epic parts and the delicate parts is crazy.

The worst thing about owning multiple instruments is the upkeep. I spent an hour cleaning and oiling all of my woodwinds. I usually opt for the cheaper, but still okay quality instruments, like ones made from resin or ebonite.

So I was checking the price of the book "Trattado de Glossas" by Diego Ortiz--that was translated into English and it was like $300. I still don't understand why books are so expensive. I guess I'll have to learn late Renaissance musical ornamentation somewhere else.
