Okay wow, I need to check BlueSky more often! Honestly, I’m getting quite rusty myself, but I *have* been craving an arty electronics adventure.. ⚡️

POV: You work at IBM, but...
In 2001, Shor's algorithm was demonstrated by a group at IBM, who factored 15 into 3 × 5, using an NMR implementation of a quantum computer with seven qubits. After IBM's implementation, two independent groups implemented Shor's algorithm using photonic qubits. In 2012, the factorization of 15 was performed with solid-state qubits. Later, in 2012, the factorization of 21 was achieved. In 2016, the factorization of 15 was performed again using trapped-ion qubits. However, none of these demonstrations fulfill the requirements of Shor's algorithm: they compile the circuit using prior knowledge of the solution, and some have even oversimplified the algorithm in a way that makes it equivalent to coin flipping.

As an East India Company history nerd, found this tidbit particularly intriguing. I have a hard time gauging what counts as traditional principles around private enterprise + free market, given the global history of... private enterprise and free markets.

I keep having to tell students that the true "product" on a homework, essay, or test is not the completed assignment, it's the brain that has gone through the thinking required to complete the assignment.

This is very good! Love the simulations — a great / meaningful use of interaction. The piece reminds me of this 2015 Guardian article by Rich Harris (creator of Svelte) that looked at measles outbreaks. www.theguardian.com/society/ng-i...

Watch how the measles outbreak spreads when kids get vaccinated – and when they don't
If you take 10 communities and run a simulation, it’s easy to see why we need as many members of the ‘herd’ as possible to get vaccines – before it’s too late

Also, this movie understood that the novel was sometimes funny. The start (of the novel) is basically a comedy of manners and misunderstandings, akin to the gothic, but absurd and funny nature of Moby Dick. Brontë is not very consistent with this tonally, and for me, the text is weaker for it.

Rashida Kamal @rashida.bsky.social · 16/02/2026
And people are upset that it lacks Brontë’s confrontation with race… I found that to be unimpressive / insufficient in the source material, so I didn’t miss it here.

Hot take: I thought Fennel’s “Wuthering Heights” was great, and it’s the only adaptation I’ve seen that reckons with Nelly as an unreliable narrator, and treats her as human enough that she would also be affected by being surrounded by abuse her entire life.
