Engaged parents feel completely gaslit. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve experienced this and how many people I know whose kids are in supposedly great public schools in well off areas of NYC have been told their kids are fine when we knew/know they were not.

This happens in well-off schools too. I have direct experience of two such schools. Teachers repeatedly asserting kids are at grade level and “totally great” when they are demonstrably not. And I’m talking about the majority of the class.
