Wild strawberry #garden is overflowing this year with wild strawberry blooms. They are tiny flavor bombs but beyond delicate. Can not even be stacked. Was crossed with european strains to create modern day fruit.

Backyard year two. Start with this one Red cornflower. These are reseeds from last year. Only had a few viables. This year they are everywhere. Medicinal uses are for eye infections. Highly astringent. Flowers are edible garnsishes. Were used to add color to dishes. Typically blue.

This happens with plants. People hate on golden rods. Not for rational reasons, but because they read somewhere.... Fact is these beetles do the exact same thing that 7 spotted ladybugs do. Eat aphids. Another example is the leaf footed bug....

Post frost what is it? Sanguisorba minor or Salad Burnet. Cold weather evergreen. It is easier to recognize when it is fully grown and in bloom. Great forage plant but also makes a decent salad. Tea is used for stomache issues. Sir Framcis Bacon and Thomas Jefferson favs. #naturalized #garden

Massive willow removal. We contracted a drainage job and low and behold willows took off. The problem was location. The willows strangled out the winterberries. Also would have created a nightmare for future owners and neighbors. #gardening

So they are house finches. Cool thing about them is courtship. The male will touch his beak to her beak. And bring small bits of food to her. She will mimic a chicken in sound and posture and he will feed her. This proves his value as a coparent for the chick's to come.
