The "in addition to" in the blog was a reference to the fact that we have added 2 new logging destinations—S3 and Firehose—natively (without having to use Extensions or other alternatives). " One issue though - EMF metrics will only work if you're sending to CloudWatch Logs.

LOVE this! Mostly lots of pros with just one con: "Yes. When you select S3 or Firehose, the logs won't be stored in CloudWatch Logs and you will pay a lower price for delivery to S3/Firehose. You don't need to add any IAM deny statement." >> aws.amazon.com/blogs/comput...

🧠 Unpopular opinion: Not everything needs to be agentic AI. I've seen too many systems use agents just because. Often, "boring" code works better—simpler, cheaper, and maintainable. Solve the problem first. Choose the tech second. Not every solution needs to brag. #AI #Architecture

In the end, all options work. It's all about pros and cons. Sometimes, it will take years until you "feel" cons, sometime they bite your faster. That's the fun part about being an architect, making designs and talking about architecture like it's a philosophical debate :)

Ran Isenberg (Ran the Builder) @ranthebuilder.cloud · 10/02/2025
and as for the SQS between them, if i'm not mistaken, you need to configure on the invoked function an SQS for unhandled exception yourself (if you remember to set on_failure config)

Ran Isenberg (Ran the Builder) @ranthebuilder.cloud · 10/02/2025
Thanks for the clarification.I think that by using async L2L you are exposing the implementation to the caller and creating an extra coupling. In many cases, i ended up moving microservices to another repo, and the SQS interface made it simpler.
