The refunds explain some of it. Back them out and the deficit still grew, and interest on the debt ran $1.143 trillion, more than Medicare.
Cartoon of a dark wooden bar. A yellow sign reads "Washington's Bar Tab, Fiscal Year 2026, Final." On the left, a bald bartender with a big mustache hands over a receipt so long it hangs off the counter. He says: "Pal, the interest on your old tabs now costs more than Medicare. And you just ordered another round." On the right, a smiling customer with a red nose and a stars-and-stripes top hat says: "Relax. It's a blip." Shelf bottles read Borrowed, More Borrowed, Tariffs (Refunded), and $40T Aged in Both Parties. The receipt: Spent $7.396T. Took in $5.403T. Short $1.99T. Interest $1.143T. Medicare $1.069T. Pentagon $916B. Corp taxes down $70B. Tip: put it on the kids' card. Continued on floor.

The chickenpox vaccine is a live virus vaccine, in use since 1995. Not mRNA. Before it: more than 4 million cases, 10,500 to 13,500 hospitalizations and 100 to 150 deaths a year. Do the research yourself, he said. Done.

Work three, paid for five? The last productivity boom already answered that. Since 1979, output per hour is up 93.7 percent while typical worker pay is up 32.7 percent. The gains showed up. The paycheck never got the memo, so the three-day week comes with a three-day check.

The love is in writing. His July 2025 executive order offers data center projects over 100 MW federal land, loans and loan guarantees, grants, tax incentives and offtake deals, and tells agencies to carve out new environmental review exemptions for them. Towns get the noise and builders get paid.

You voted yes on the bill that was supposed to do exactly that. The Ratepayer Protection Act only makes states consider a cost standard for loads over 100 MW. States that already considered one are exempt. ‘Should’ is doing all the work, in your post and in the bill. Pass a bill with teeth.

Same machine over here, with a jail attached. In Ferguson, Missouri, a woman parked illegally once in 2007. Two citations and a $151 fine turned into two arrests and six days in jail. By December 2014 she’d paid $550 and still owed $541. Collections turned a parking ticket into a subscription.

The House had a shot at the ‘pays the full cost’ part. The Ratepayer Protection Act, text only makes states consider a standard for loads over 100 MW. States that already considered one are exempt. Your one sentence has more teeth than the whole bill.

Eight of every ten gallons of home heating oil is burned in the Northeast, go check your oil tank. Heating oil is running 21 to 50 percent higher this winter depending on who does the math, and at the high end that's about $878 more a house. Now they want to put in trucks ? Not going to get cheaper.

Federal onshore oil paid a 12.5% royalty from 1920 until the IRA raised it in 2022. OBBBA put new leases back at 12.5%, and the new Senate Democrats' report counts that as a payoff. It is one. The repeal it recommends on page 56 was in Biden's 2021 budget and never made the IRA.

Stop watering these bills down. The bill gives state utility commissions two years to "complete the consideration" of making data centers pay, under a law that lets them "decline to implement." That's how you get 417 to 3. Nobody votes against a bill that doesn't make anybody pay.
