I read the manuals for the systems taking your money, then I translate them. The machine. The receipt. The move. Healthcare, housing, food, labor, debt. Send me the one you're stuck in. theranter.com

The refunds explain some of it. Back them out and the deficit still grew, and interest on the debt ran $1.143 trillion, more than Medicare.
Cartoon of a dark wooden bar. A yellow sign reads "Washington's Bar Tab, Fiscal Year 2026, Final." On the left, a bald bartender with a big mustache hands over a receipt so long it hangs off the counter. He says: "Pal, the interest on your old tabs now costs more than Medicare. And you just ordered another round." On the right, a smiling customer with a red nose and a stars-and-stripes top hat says: "Relax. It's a blip." Shelf bottles read Borrowed, More Borrowed, Tariffs (Refunded), and $40T Aged in Both Parties. The receipt: Spent $7.396T. Took in $5.403T. Short $1.99T. Interest $1.143T. Medicare $1.069T. Pentagon $916B. Corp taxes down $70B. Tip: put it on the kids' card. Continued on floor.

The Secretary of Defense wants $1.5 trillion for FY2027. The department he is asking for just failed its audit for the 8th straight year, under three administrations. The finding: a disclaimer of opinion. Accountant for "we can't tell you what this is." 24 must pass. One never has.

The FY2027 ask is $1.5 trillion, about a 50% jump, partly to replace what the Iran campaign burned through. In 1964 the Army swapped the M16's powder for a cheaper propellant and approved it without retesting in the rifle. It ran hotter. Rifles jammed in combat. The men were told it was user error.

In Utah, a 3-person commission unanimously approved a 9 GW data center over 1,000+ protesters chanting "Shame." Approval took 4 months. Industry standard: 5 years. Mapped 14 cases of community rejection followed by state-level override, 2024-2026. Pattern crosses parties.
U.S. map showing 14 data center projects from 2024-2026 where local communities rejected proposals but state agencies, county boards, or development authorities approved them anyway. KPI tiles report ~50 active local bans (4 permanent), $64B in projects blocked or delayed through 2025, Stratos Utah's 4-month approval timeline vs. industry-standard 5 years, and 4 of 4 Festus Missouri incumbents defeated April 2026. Pins are color-coded: red for community-rejected-then-overridden (Tucson, Box Elder, Powhatan, Fort Worth, Cedar Rapids), green for community wins (Chandler, Festus, Fayetteville), yellow for pending fights (Seattle, Denver, Minneapolis, Hill County, Camden County). Box Elder Utah is highlighted with a callout: "Stratos, May 4 2026, 9 GW data center approved 3-0 over 1,000+ protesters." Light blue states have active data-center legislation. Footer notes the override pattern crosses parties (Maine Democratic veto, Utah Republican approval, Georgia Republican PSC protecting ratepayers) and lists community-win details.
