I came across a little gray owl dead on the canyon road today. Only posting this as I suspect the green mesh fence on the side if the road confused him or blocked his flight path when it was interrupted by a car. Anyway he got moved off the road at least.

I’ve built and listened to a number of solid state class A amps, and while they are amazing& I will listen to them again, I’m currently obsessed with these tube monoblocks. It’s running in class AB2 and it sounds almost live to me.

I picked up a little metal box last weekend that someone was giving away. I want to find an old road sign to cut a bottom lid from, and I’d engrave a logo on the side if I had access to a CNC laser. The guts fit perfectly too. Keeping my hands busy quiets my mind.

With any luck, the output opamps are through-hole parts or possibly even in sockets. This is definitely worth some effort to try and repair.

So I saw that movie as a kid in a theater in Mexico City, while we were living in Veracruz, Mexico. Some scenes in that movie ascribed to Cartagena, Colombia were actually filmed in and around Veracruz and as we watched it, the whole theater audience reacted with surprise.

At Burning Amp every year there’s a dude with dreadlocks who brings a dj deck and some beat to hell 2-way field coil speakers that he says he found in a barn, are rare as hell & worth a new truck. It is my favorite sounding system, by far.

Instead of falling asleep last night, I lay in bed running through what I might say at my dad’s funeral. We moved around a lot after the divorce & it makes for a depressing story. I woke up this morning feeling not great & with Tuesday’s Gone by Lynyrd Skynyrd running in my head.

There is at least one person claiming to drive their 718 year-round in the Boston area, despite the road salt. Just all season tires & send it, apparently. Alternatively a car could remain indoors in Cali for $250-$500 a month, depending on the amount of pampering. This is all very theoretical

So at least my health is solid. Other than my usual musculoskeletal annoyances, all the numbers out of my recent physical suggest that two months of not working that job is exactly what my body needed. It kinda puts a lens on whatever step might be next, yeah?

Of all the bad things going on in my life rn, the one that’s pissing me off the most is the neighbors down the way cutting down a perfectly healthy, mature redwood tree. I know water bills are too high & there’s a super El Niño on the way, but please. People suck & I’m starting to hate this place.
