The second day of the ENOJP Conference starts with a keynote by HP Liederbach reflecting on the reception of modern Japanese Philosophy in Europe. Nice to see that our work at UZH has been noticed.

And a good reflection on a piece of Japanese "Vergangenheitsbewältigung" (coming to terms with the past - in this case, the participation of Kyoto School philosophers in the fascist project) by Katsumori Makoto.

Now happening: the 10th ENOJP Conference on Japanese Philosophy, starting with a refreshingly realistic talk on today's "fudo" (climate) in the "snow country".

Nakajima Yoshimichi in his small book on "Time and Death" makes the observation that the capacity for handling sequences does not amount to a consciousness of time. For the latter, it is essential to grasp something that is no longer or not yet there as "being" in some way related to the present.

Wondering how to translate this gem - Hönigswald on "Zeiterlebnis" from his article on the problem of rhythm (Zum Problem des Rhythmus, 1926).

English Translations of Karoline von Günderrode’s Works
For your convenience and reading pleasure, a list of all the English translations I could find of Günderrode’s published and unpublished works, arranged alphabetically by German title. (For a list arranged alphabetically by name of translator, as well as secondary literature in English, German and French, see the “Read Günderrode” page on this website.) Where I found more than one translation of a piece, the entries are arranged alphabetically by translator’s name.

Stumbled upon Doi Torakazu's " #Time and #Eternity" in the library. He posits that the sphere of facts and the chronological order of time that connects them belong in essence to the "past" mode of time. Present and future only exist for consciousness.

Still reading the Iwanami tetsugaku koza book, now the chapter on "lived time" by Hosokawa Ryōichi. He distinguishes three modes of "living time": as passing, play, and walking. "Passing" means to go through the present as a means to achieve a future goal.

"He claimed that it was just going to be a very cursory search," Kalman-Lamb said, explaining the officer's actions are legal.

"But the document that he gave me said they reserve the right to copy all the contents of your phone and distribute them to every American military and intelligence agency."
