I couldn't verify this, but apparently he apologized for calling activists terrorists, lending this some credence. Taking 1984 as a business model is horrifying, but more horrifying is that we've built a world where Big Brother is a "successful" business model.

Q: Whenever something like this happens, there's a call for "more security". Why is there never a call for social and community reports that reduce crime? Why are we so reluctant to address problems at their source? A: #Capitalism. We'd rather monetize problems than solve them.
