I made a danger friend. She got left in a bush that seemed suitable.

This is all I've got handy, right now
Soft serve ice cream machine, except the dispenser is shaped like Pikachu, so it looks like Pikachu shits out ice cream

Or more precisely: What part of someone preferring that their kid die, and taking action to that end, makes you think that there is value to be had from having lunch with them, and trying to treat whatever they think as if it has literally any validity at all?

radicalerin.bsky.social @radicalerin.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
For example, let's talk about conversion therapy. We know for an absolute fact that it increases death rates among the kids involved. You know who else knows? The parents sending the kids there. They'd rather have dead kids than gay ones. How does having lunch fix that situation?

The simple fact is, you have the privilege of not being any of the types of people the fascists want to erase. You aren't gay, trans, female, black, brown, Muslim, etc. Your disagreements with them have never included whether you get to exist at all, and that allows you to form thoughts like this.

Could you imagine telling the jews in Europe that if they didn't want to be exterminated, they should have had lunch with the nazi soldiers? It's fucking insane when you get out of your own mental context. And if you think we aren't at roundup and camps yet, I'll remind you about ice.

"once you think through the issue from the perspective of someone you like and admire..." Gonna stop you right there, cause ... they don't. They don't like trans people or black people or brown people. They don't admire these groups. They want to hurt them. Literally, and directly hurt them.

radicalerin.bsky.social @radicalerin.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
"People are misunderstanding you" no they're not. You have misunderstood the reality. We don't need to "compromise" with fascism. We don't need to treat fascists like special snowflakes who just need our labor to see us as not death camp material. We need fascism to stop being a thing, full stop.

radicalerin.bsky.social @radicalerin.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
One thing you need to realize is that, for a lot of the extreme right, they know that not everything they repeat is true. They don't need to be convinced. Repeating the lie is part of your membership in fascism. And the "reward" is that they want to hurt people. That's not dinner table shit.

You have based your entire idea on a false premise, which is that the bigots in this country, by and large, want to learn why they're wrong. They don't. The people who want to exterminate poeple like me ... they're not looking to be told why they need to see me as human. It's ridiculous.

100%. There are prerequisites for sitting down at a table with me, and one of them is a genuine interest in solving a problem or making something better, or whatever. The other is maybe not thinking of me as someone who should be in a fascist death camp.

Obviously the answer is no, but it's a consistent pattern here that people who spend too much time close to these things begin to lose the ability to understand what they're dealing with.

I genuinely think the notion of average people using AI is just the industry desperately seeking any possible use case, because $. The only traction they've found so far is that ployers are very excited about eliminating jobs, which hasn't worked out great for the employers or the AI.
030
radicalerin.bsky.social @radicalerin.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I have largely taken the following conclusion regarding using AI in my daily life: If it can be automated, it can probably be eliminated. Email is the best example. If you couldn't be bothered to write it and I couldn't be bothered to read it, it isn't a candidate for AI; it's unnecessary.
010
radicalerin.bsky.social @radicalerin.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
If a communication isn't worth a person doing, or a person receiving, then at some point, you need to acknowledge that that communication isn't automateable; It's unnecessary.
000
radicalerin.bsky.social @radicalerin.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I gotta be honest, though: If you couldn't be bothered to write the email, and my agent did the reading, then what the fuck actually just happened? You didn't say anything, and I didn't hear anything. So ... you paid for nothing. It was nothing. Nothing valuable occurred.

radicalerin.bsky.social @radicalerin.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
What is perhaps more insideous, though, is the necessity of the unnecessary. People submit way more applications now, because of AI in HR, so if you weren't using that tool in your company, you might have to start, purely because others doing it prompted the overflow you now must filter.
000
radicalerin.bsky.social @radicalerin.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
The simple fact is that the only way to hire people is for people to talk to people. Everything else is just gating for that step. But each time, companies say they can filter more or better, and HR pays for more software, and it just ends up doing the same amount of work, but paying more money.
100
radicalerin.bsky.social @radicalerin.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Every complication they represent may possibly filter and reduce a task, but theyre also imperfect, making the hiring period longer, and making applicants submit more applications. As such, each wave in this space effectively negates itself. They help filter the applications they caused to increase.
100
radicalerin.bsky.social @radicalerin.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
And to be clear, the submission per hunt thing is on both sides. People submit more applications when they need a job, and the employers get more when they're hiring. Now, these systems are largely designed to try to reduce the hiring work for hr people, but never really end up doing that.
100
radicalerin.bsky.social @radicalerin.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Then they introduce ... AI. AI is language models right now, so clearly it will be good at words and resume words are words, right? The result? More and harsher filtering, and an increase in AInresume submissions, with a vast increase in submissions per job hunt.
100
radicalerin.bsky.social @radicalerin.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Then they start filtering much harder in relation to job requirements and resume contents, because the filtering systems have gotten slightly better. This makes it hard for very qualified people to get called in, so resume submissions multiply massively. This is roughly covid period.
101
radicalerin.bsky.social @radicalerin.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
They apply more because the filter makes the actual hiring process worse/slower, so they feel they need a wider net. Then the systems start using context analysis, so you need the keywords used properly in sentences about to stuff you did. This muddies the waters, so people submit more applications.
100
radicalerin.bsky.social @radicalerin.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Specifically, you get a job by handing in a resume and talking to someone. Then, you submit it online, so people send out more per job hunt. Then there's a form to fill out, the system reads your resume, and pre filters before people see it, using keywords. Then people pack words and apply more.

So, as a tech person who also studied some organizational psychology, I find this aspect slightly fascinating. I mostly looked at it in the HT context, because it changes very little, and more than that, because this seems to keep happening in that space.

Oh yeah, definitely. But I'm looking for someone who works all that out, gets it /exactly/ right, like, months of research and custom work, goes back, and realizes that they misunderstood what the 19th century meant, and they've turned up at a sock hop dressed for a covered wagon, or whatever.

My big caveat is "from the company", strictly. Not "from an idea", or "from their own actions", or anything where "somehow" the weight of it comes down on the people. An example would be all this ID for computing bullshit.

@chicagocta.bsky.social Two things. First, your site says my email is invalid, likely due to periods in the name. Second, I watched bus 7970, sb on Halsted, go through the intersection at 39th, between 19:35 and 19:45, as my light was turning green, which seemed like it ran the red.

What's the main concept you're revolving around? Money? "So you think you can finance" [this is a bad and lazy idea] All our systems are bad at getting things done? "Gridlock: Being so close to something great". Wait, that's also terrible. Am I terrible at this?
