About a month ago, powmia99 discovered a way to trigger arbitrary code execution fully standalone in Animal Crossing GameCube with nothing but a controller. This was confirmed by Cuyler and I to work on vanilla hardware and we now have a setup that makes it 100% consistent.

Remember when Crunchyroll tried to make their subtitles significantly worse a year ago? They backtracked on it at the time, but I suspected they were just delaying their plans to shift from Aegisub to OOONA, and sadly, it seems I was right: Crunchyroll is actively pushing OOONA subs to users now.

it's surprising how almost every change in that movie just makes things feel way less impactful, but I guess that's to be expected when you condense 8 episodes of anime into a 2 hour movie while also adding a new b-plot. the shinsengumi stuff definitely took away more than it added

I really wish netflix, prime video etc. would add support for subtitle formats with proper typesetting (like .ASS). it sucks seeing anime companies needlessly make their subtitles worse and less readable just for the sake of releasing them on these platforms

When translators say they hate doing MTPE because it's faster to just do it from scratch and results in better material, we're not exaggerating. I know this'll ruffle feathers but I agree with this Food/Water watch analysis. Diverting renewable energy away from fossil phase-out and climate adaptation and towards melting graphics card to power chatbots is the formal end of moral purpose for clean technology.

Data Centers With Renewables Aren’t the Answer
So all these power plants and “temporary” turbines are raising power prices and polluting our communities. Why don’t we just power data centers with renewables?

Many data center companies are pledging to (eventually) do just that. But even if these pledges weren’t just empty greenwashing promises, powering data centers with clean energy is utterly unrealistic. It also threatens the progress of our already dangerously slow energy transition.

Continuously powering a 1 GW data center would require nearly 20,000 acres of solar panels or 185,000 acres of onshore wind power. We cannot afford to waste the time, space, or money to build renewables for Big Tech’s profit machines.

Already, data center growth is outstripping available renewable energy supply and redirecting renewables from other industries. It’s drawing urgently needed renewables from existing technologies and resources. We need to focus our renewable energy resources toward thos
